    There is a rule that no WBO Champion may hold titles in more than one Weight Division.

    By holding the WBC 160 belt, he was unable to compete for Smith's WBO title. He had to vacate that title for him to be able to fight Smith for the title.

    He was negotiating with Smith before he signed to Fight Amir Khan. Look it up.

    The Smith fight couldn't happen had he not vacated.

    You can always say a new lineage is made if no disputed belts are there.. and it's debatable if the WBO counts.. it does.. just saying..


    Otherwise how is a new lineage made?
