Dropping the belt doesn't prove that he tried to get GG to fight at 155. You're just making that up. He dropped the belt because the WBC was taking GG's side in negotiations. GG was trying to get the WBC to negotiate the fight for him. Canelo couldn't fight for the WBO vs Smith if he didn't drop that belt.

    Are you serious?

Explain exactly how the WBC were taking Golovkins side?

Golovkin was mandatory, if they couldn't agree fees/purses then it goes to purse bids, happens all the time, that it is not taking sides ffs, so explain yourself please.

Happens all the time? There's nothing routine about Canelo vs GG. This is the biggest fight in boxing. There are many additional factors to the negotiations to make a fight of the magnitude, like venue for example, that require both sides to sit down at the table and engage in open negotiations. The first issue was that Canelo was being dictated to by the WBC. Less than 2 weeks after his win over Amir Khan, he was told that he has to agree to terms by a certain date.

That was hugely disrespectful to Canelo, especially after such a sensational KO win. It's one thing to have a mandatory, it's another to be told when you have to negotiate by the commision. GG himself was interviewed in the crowd at the Canelo Khan fight and in the interview he cited a 15-day timetable for Canelo to agree to terms after the Khan fight. This indicates that GG's team was putting pressure on the WBC to create these timetables for Canelo, which is hugely disrespectul and suggests that GG's team was in cahoots with the WBC to dictate terms to Canelo.

This was a tactic by team Golovkin to not only disrespect Canelo, but to "even the playing field" in negotiations, to get the commisions to force Canelo to agree to terms as if GG is just as big of a star as Canelo, which he isn't. This is the problem with Team GG, is that they don't know how to have real negotiatations because GG has never been in a mega fight.

So yeah essentially the WBC were taking Golovkin's side, they were dictating the terms to Canelo, terms that benefitted Golovkin greatly, and gave Canelo timetables. Canelo isn't to be dictated to, not by the WBC not by Golovkin. He's the cash cow. If you want to make a fight with Canelo, you have to learn how to negotiate. Beefy and Frank Warren were much more professional at making a big fight and they are better business partners than team GG. Not only that, but Canelo couldn't make the fight with Beefy unless they vacated that title, so that's what happened.

KTFO over Ishida, dropping Murray at will and getting rid of Macklin and Rubio with one punch is a far more impressive power demonstration than any one of Canelo's stoppage wins to date. Anyone with a brain celm can see that.

Interesting fight tbh. Depends who gets the game plan going best for me. Can make an argument that golovkin outworks him. Doesnt give you a minute when hes cutting that ring off. Stamina still seems a problem for canelo. Maybe going up in weight may help that tho.

On the other hand i dont think golovkins gonna like them body shots. At 34 years old. Breaths heavy himself when the pace goes up. Plus sure there was a fight he didnt like them too much. Tbf who does.

Both solid fighters. Both can punch. I can see golovkin walking into something tho tbh. Canelos not gonna be sitting on the ropes throwing nothing back. Wouldnt be surprised if he sets him up for it against the ropes.

Geale was on his feet when the fight was stopped, in fact from the little shake of the head when the ref asked him if he was ok to continue it looked like he chose not to fight on. That's not a one-punch KO. This is the thing with GGG fans, they never let the facts get in the way of the myth.

Yes, he hits hard but it's the accuracy and variety which stands out the most. It's accuracy and variety which makes him favourite against Canelo, and Golden Boy are just waiting for the moment GGG starts to look old before signing the fight. His poor performance against Brook may well have been that moment.

But they can realistically wait as long as they need. If 50,000 will pay to watch Canelo fight a Euro level boxer, he doesn't need GGG as much as GGG needs him. Canelo is the A side and calls the shots on this fight.

Or GGG could avoid being dictated to like this, step up into 168 and take a couple of risks fighting bigger men. Somehow, his risk-adverse approach to his career makes me think he won't be doing that anytime soon.

GGG was way off his game. Took some good shots but had Brooke ready to go and the corner did the right then.
I thought that Brooke milked it in the end-saying he would have preferred the fight be stopped with a TKO. Well, he
was about ready to get his wish.
One thing that isn't mentioned enough is the granite chin of GGG-thanks to his Korean Mother.
Canelo's impressive but he'll see that he's in with one hell of a talent with mucho power.

Agree. And also let's not forget Canelo danced to Mayweather's beat back in 2013. Had he acted like GGG back then the fight would not have happened. You got to earn your place at the head of the table and not expect it handed to you. Either that or make yourself so into such a cash-cow (like FM did) that people will concede more to make more. GGG has done neither.

Alvarez proved his power vs Mayweather, Khan, Kirkland, Angulo, Lara, Trout, Cotto, Mosley...etc. Who did the overhyped fraud prove his power against?, Rubio and Brook?. You have to be mentally ill to the very core to even dare compare resumes, because Alvarez' win over ancient Mosley is better than everything Golovkin has done to date.

LOL Kirkland and Khan are as Glass Jawed as it gets. Canelo didn't lay a glove on Mayweather. How is that proving your power? Lara ran the whole fight and didn't flinch and his Chin isn't great either. KOing Khan isn't 'proving your power' it has been done easily before. It isn't like he KOed George Chuvalo or Tex Cobb. These guys were handpicked Glass Jawed opponents. He didn't even knock down several of the opponents you listed.....

Another load of nonsensical garbage from the king of the flies himself. Go watch Golovkin devour tomato cans and choke in awe.
