Monro is decent - not great or even that good - just decent. What he does have is a style that'll make you not look as good as you are. He won't ever beat a world level fighter most likely but he's just one of those guys kinda like Chilemba who will be tricky.
Pray to God that this junk fight doesn't get made. It's bad enough that Golovkin wasted fan's time by fighting a non-competitive fight with Monroe, but GBP don't play that K2 ****. Canelo won't be fighting Monroe. Monroe Vs Rosado was a good match-up between two low B-level fighters. Just because they are good enough to fight a nobody like Golovkin isn't a good reason for them to be one-sided matched up with The Linear MW Champion, Canelo Alvarez.
Yeah but he's got to start somewhere. Monroe has some talent and is strong but he can't bang and is a full MW, so I think Monroe would be the perfect fight for him as a full blown 160 pounder imo.
Well Canelo shouldn't have started by going back to 154, that is and was a ridiculous move if you are claiming you need to grow in to middleweight, you certainly don't go down in weight. Also I can't agree with Monroe being a good or perfect option, it's a seriously boring fight against a bang average at best middleweight. Eubank Jr is perfect in my opinion, he isn't a title holder, he is/was British champion, a full blown middleweight but he will come to fight, he will brawl and maul. Saunders is another great fight, Oscar and Canelo have said they wanted Saunders in December so let's see how serious they were. When Golovkin fought Monroe it was "bum of the month club" and now it's a perfect fight for Canelo at 160? Sorry I can't have it, if Canelo is A Side and a P4P fighter then he needs better than Monroe now. It would mean a run of fights that read, Khan, Liam Smith and Monroe, and that's not "bum of the month club"? A brittle jawed WW, a domestic level LMW and a man how is seriously average, it's just not good enough, just like some/quite a few of Golovkins opponents haven't been good enough. It does work both ways, I want Golovkin is serious tests, better tests, better fights.
I think CEJ is a world level talent ready for his shot to burst into the scene. Monroe is just a guy with really no power but is a full fledged MW AND he's strong, and hes a southpaw, so I'd go that route first to gain a little experience. And I don't think that fight would be boring, I actually think Monroe would fight Canelo similar to how he fought GGG.
High praise from you for Eubank Jr, I'm British and I'm not completely sold on him yet, he needs a big fight and Canelo would be ideal for him and I think he is ideal for Canelo, Eubank Jr isn't a tricky riddle, he will stand and fight and isn't a one punch KO artist. Plus I would actually pay to see a webcam feed of the negotiations between Sr and Oscar, it would be amazing, or even better Sr and Hopkins in the same room, the ego battle would be simply amazing.
You can't take the opinion of a few biased fans and apply the question to the masses. That said, Monroe isn't a bum, it's the pressure and power that got to him against Golovkin. Canelo doesn't apply that pressure or have that power, so canelo vs Monroe is more competitive. Stylistically, Monroe should have success against Canelo. Most people that call Golovkin's resume "bums" are trolling anyway.
Lol... Who the **** wants to see this fight? I like Monroe, he's a humble guy who deserves a good pay day.. but a fight between him and Canelo would not sell, nobody is asking for this fight.
