The Times and the French papers commented on it. Most don't claim it happened in the last round at all, you're over- egging the pudding here, not for the first time on this thread .You've the same books I have.

It's like the Ali Norton fight. No one knows. One thing is sure and that is he looked like crap in the fight and was very tired at the end.

Considering he was 35 years old , hadn't fought for a year and a half ,and was fighting with a broken radius bone, he did all right.

And he was 34 against Flynn, hadn't fought in two years post Reno, had been living a very high lifestyle and it showed against a highly motivated if a true as-hole of an opponent there too .. no one is saying he didn't do all right , just that clearly cracks were showing , he was no longer the 1908-1910 vintage and no longer untouchable.

Well Naughton thought he was slipping, but several others thought he was as good as ever, and I posted a couple of those opinions.

    HE,

The cracks were showing in 1909, his absolute prime. Outboxed according to primary sources by O'Brien, knocked silly in an exhibition match by Gun Boat Smith, who in my opinion clearly earned a title shot, and then floored by Ketchel. All in the same year. Had this happened to a modern champion....

The question was not if Johnson had better skills than was Flynn. He was by miles and in the lead in the fight.

The question is not if Flynn deserved this title shot over others. Not even close.

The question is had the fight gone on could Johnson being the older man and not in shape lasted the distance of 45 rounds in the heat of the desert in July, with those at ringside pretty much saying Johnson was fading!

Based on history in longer fights where the other guy was game ( Hart, Willard, and Jim Battling ) were Johnson clearly faded you have to say Johnson would need a knockout before he wilted. Which would have come first is debatable.

Being a bigot is one reason why you can't accept new data. He Grant is a Johnson fan, but an honest one. You agenda with the man is obvious...

Where is the new data? I posted several ringside reports of the fight that say Johnson was as good as ever , in shape and making no effort to end the fight. Some saying he was intentionally carrying Flynn for the benefit of the fight films of which he had a percentage.

    You ignored them.
In fact I've posted more data on the Flynn fight
than anyone else on this thread including the OP!!
If you spent half as much time learning to read, spell, and write properly as you do on here despising Jack Johnson ,you would profitably fill your time. Maybe even construct two sentences without making a mistake ! Instead of which you will remain an illiterate ****** as long as you live. The very epitome of a racist Klan Man.Going to call me a racist again you stupid f*ck?lol

Im neither sad, lonely, nor angry. Just better informed than you. When you actually watch this fight, the whole fight, and get the balls to come back here and report on what you actually saw instead of what a few people who hated Johnson WROTE then we can talk. Until then you are just arguing from a position of ignorance. Youve been here before, youll be here again. Meanwhile Ill continue to be amused by asinine posts questioning whether Johnson was on the verge of losing a fight he had dominated against a weak opponent he had already stopped once, he would stop again, and who stated publicly he would foul out rather than lose and then did just that after having his face turned to jelly. Congrats, awsome insightful post...

Klompton, does Johnson get wobbled or stunned at any point in the fight?
Did Flynn land any big shots we don't see in the short versions of the fight?

    Thank you

From what I've seen Johnson doesn't get stunned or wobbled at any point. Flynn doesn't land anything that Johnson doesn't see coming, smothers and rolls with.
It's somewhere between Ketchel and Burn as far as obvious mismatch goes. Johnson just toying with him.

I haven't seen the WHOLE fight, but the version I have is most of the fight.

Only someone deeply insecure constantly labels others .. there is a reason why your the most despised guy on every boxing forum you participate in .. I've read dozens of mistakes made by you through the years and let them go .. just grow up man .. you squirrel away your three thousand films and collect tons of clips , good for you .. others have lives .. no excuse for being a *****.
