Considered by many and voted the best fighter of the 70's edging out Ali and Monzon. Anything past that Duran was past prime and above his natural weight. Duran fought in 5 different decades which is remarkable and a testament to his skill level.
Floyd fought in 5 different weight classes and people get offended on this site when someone claims he's a top ten all time.
It's not disputable that Duran is one of the top 10 fighters of all time. This is among his contemporaries and pretty much anyone that knows the sport of boxing. And any fighter considered top 10 of all time has a good argument for being considered the greatest/best/most talented ever.
By that logic Pac is greater than Floyd because he fought in more weight classes. I know you won't like that idea now being a Floyd fanboy. Duran fought in 8 different weight classes holding world titles in 4 of them. Is considered the greatest lightweight of all time and has what many consider to be the single greatest win in boxing history. The reason Floyd isn't rated as a top 10 ATG is because his resume just isn't up there with the top tier ATG'S. It's that simple.
Roberto Duran would beat any fighter of the last 10 years from 135 -154 pounds. That's real talk bruh .
Single greatest victory my ass. If that's the case, SRL is greater, after all he beat Duran 2 times, making him quit in their second fight. SRL also stopped a dangerous prime Thomas Hearns. You know the same Hearns that will go on to knock Duran the **** out. The 3 other best fighters from that era bested him. I didn't bring the different weight class argument you brought that up. Outside of Buchanen who the hell did Duran beat in his lightweight rein? You guys need to stop with the BS, you're not fooling anyone.
