For the title fights, maybe Jack Johnson. Clearly avoided Langford, Jeannette, and Mcvey, the #1, #2, and #3 contenders for most of his chamioinship run from 1909-1914. A champion is best defined by who he defeated as Champion.
In the there place he picked on old men, super middleweight types, and guys who today would be viewed as a bad journeyman with several losses on their resume, including KO losses.

He got outboxed by one weighing less than 171 pounds according to primary sources in a fight Box Rec lists as a news draw, was floored by a 5'9" middleweight, and drew with a journeyman, later on, only to be KO's by the only in his prime talent he faced as champion ( Willard )

To make matters worse Johnson backed out of a signed contract to face the great Sam Langford.

In a modern context, I'd say Wilder. He has not even fought a top 12 ranked guy.

Some strong contenders for the title are Larry Holmes, Deontay Wilder, and Brian Nielsen. Larry Holmes deftly avoided all of the toughest threats to his throne during his title reign. Deontay Wilder fights nothing but cab drivers in a division that is rich in talent. And Brian Nielsen fought some of the best heavyweights in the world, once they were in their forties.

Larry Holmes ducked no one. As a matter of fact, you would be hard put to find any champion of his generation that ducked. It just wasn't done back then.

You can't make this **** up, lmfao.

The guys you say that he didn't fight, he fought and beat before he won the HVW title. Now he didn't defend his title against them because America wouldn't let him. Gene Tunney never fought a black fighter yet he is held in high regard. Now the guy you say that Johnson got outboxed through primary sources lol....who is he, and how did the fight go? And when you say that he backed out of a signed contract with Langford, how true is that?

And of course you had to mention Wilder. Now who is he cherry picking? GTFOOH with your ******ed ass logic and exaggerated lies.
