But Canelo is the A side, the face of boxing, the pay per view king.

Quite impressive really, GGG did somewhere between 95-150buys vs Lemieux.

Lemieux is pretty much a household name in the US compared to Liam Smith.

Not really interested in arguing numbers but don't see how 300k is bad? Hell I'm a Canelo fan but he is not Mayweather and GGG is not Pacquiao not even close for a fight like Smith 300k is top notch.

GGG's last PPV - as the A-side and against a poor domestic PPV draw in Kell Brook - 500,000.

    Time to re-negotiate Oscar.

    Another silly thread?

Wikipedia has both Canelo/smith (300k) and GGG/Lemieux(150k) doing the numbers that were reported. If you want to say Canelo did 250k, you might as well say GGG did 97k.. either way Canelo still toppled GGG in PPV buys despite having a no named domestic fighter in the other corner. :risas3: Canelo 1-0:tmnt:

I like how OP wants to jab Canelo but fails to realize that's his damn PPV buyout he usually gets.. But again staying on average with a domestic compared to much higher quality fighters with bigger fan bases like Angulo and Lara.. That's pretty damn impressive.

Lemieux a house hold name in the US???? What??
He's not even the biggest draw in Montreal lol

His last fight in town, one that he didnt even made weight and was canceled was supposed to take place in a theatre, not the Bell Centre. Let that sink in!

Apparently there were 18 million viewers in Mexico for this fight.

You have to consider the opponent here. Oscars PPVS in his younger days did minimal PPVS as well, before he beat Chavez and Whitaker to put his hand in the PPV cookie jar with the likes of Tyson and Holyfield. Same with Floyd, he didnt become a PPV star in one night. Canelo is only 26 years old and people thought this would flop big time, but he kept his average against a no name at $70 a pop. That's pretty damn impressive now that I think about it.
