Idk about that one. GGG'S introduction to the American fans against Proska was a pretty good one. He's been on HBO for almost all his fights since, so he's had some good exposure as well and like I said earlier he's a big star, it's just Canelo is bigger.. There's no way to refute that. PPV numbers and ticket revenues, merchandising ect. Is what's going to determine the split here. The belts won't be enough to gain leverage like people want. I mean Hopkins had the belts going into both fights against Oscar and Tito, and still got less money.. So I Guess Popularity has a say in it too, huh?

1st off dude if GGG got offered 10mil that is a gift seeing as bigger fights like Mayweather-Canelo/Cotto thoses guys only got 10-15mil.
2nd when assesing the situation Alvarez is the more accomplished fighter with a better resume and better "MW" win along with being more popular so based off your first sentence Alvarez would still deserve the bigger slice of the pie, regardless this is a frivolous argument who really cares who gets what as long as they fight should be the main point.

I agree that Golovkin is the lesser draw and should make concessions, but they'd would be dumb to take the first offer thrown at them when the fight is not even happening next. A lot of things about the way Golden boy is going about this don't make sense and are questionable. First they wanted to hype the fight for a year or so to get the most money out of it, but then want K2 to take the first offer which might be low if this fight really lives to the hype and sells a lot.

If they want to hype the fight fine, but they should throw out serious offers only when they are ready to go next. If that 10-12 mil offer was for the fight happening this September or this year period, then I'd say take the offer. But they don't even know how Canelo is gonna look in his next 2 fights against full middleweights. If GGG can get 15 mil compared to 12, it would still be in their best interest to try to get it, with the fight about a year out and that only if things go according to plan.

Insofar as resume goes Golovkin's resume is streets ahead of Canelo's. Canelo has beaten a string of small guys whereas Golovkin has beaten actual middleweights and guys that have fought as heavy as LHW. Take any of the top names on GGG's resume and they go through Canelo's scalps like butter. Geale, Brook, Lemieux, Monroe, Stevens, Rubio etc would be able to replicate Canelo's resume if matched 1 on 1 against his list at 160.

"But ... but ... Canelo's opponents are 154 guys" I hear you say.

    Yes.

    That's the point.

It was wrong for K2 to use May-Pac as their reference because even my old Mom knows that Golovkin ain't no 8 division champion, Manny.
Hearn realized Golovkin was no Manny and paid him a flat fee against his welterweight. Why didn't K2 argue for Pacquaio type split then? Because it ain't happening. Matchroom didn't fall for the K2 split request and GBP won't either.

If Canelo looks like **** in his next fights the fight may not sell very well. If Canelo loses GGg can forget about his 8 figure payday. Ggg should do the logical thing and lock that 12 million dollar pay day.

How can anyone justify more than 10 million for Golovkin? Canelo got 5 for Mayweather and 5 for Cotto, yet somehow GGG doesn't feel getting three times that amount is fair?

What has GGG done to earn a mega payday? Surely he isn't no Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, or even Canelo in terms of drawing power.

From my understanding Golovkin just wants a fair share of the total purse rather than the flat fee. Sure $10-12 million sounds like a lot and more than double what Golovkin has made prior to this but you have to look at the figure in context to what is actually on the table. This could be a $100 million fight, does $10-12 million out of 100 million sound fair?

Mayweather offered Pac a flat fee at first of $40 million but ended up getting a reported $120 million when he got a fair share of the total purse. Had he just taken the flat fee he would of got $40 million while Mayweather walked away with $260 million, that's Pac getting a 13% split of the total purse with Mayweather getting a whopping 87%. Do people who think Golovkin should just accept $10-12 million thinks he should take what could be a 10% cut of the total purse? If you do, you are a moron.

The fact Golden Boy are all doing this in the press and being so talkative about what they are offering just sounds like spin. They know what they offered wouldn't be accepted, so they can now say, we gave a fair offer and they declined, so it seems they are not ducking GGG, when in reality they likely still don't want the fight just yet.

It's like when Newman and Bowe offered Lewis $10 million when Lewis had just been paid $9 million and $8 million for his 2 previous fights while Bowe was to receive upwards of $32 million. People only see the $10 million figure and then think the fighter is ducking but because they don't know the other figures they don't understand that $10 million is a low ball offer.

This fight is not a 100 million. That would be 1.5 million buys at 65 dollars. No way GGG is a bigger draw than Cotto who is the 3rd biggest draw in boxing. At most this fight does similar numbers to the Cotto bout and mainly due to Canelo's pr stunts.

What you're really saying is that GGG has fought the bigger guys. Canelo has fought the better fighters.

At what weight did Golovkin fight these guys?

At what weight did Lemieux fight Rubio?

Your approach is fundamentally dishonest, tosspot. It's like me claiming that Canelo got clowned by a featherweight-class fighter when in fact that fight took place at nowhere near that weight.

Some guys are naturally stupid, and you're one of them.

That's a more arguable matter. Certainly some of the guys Canelo fought (and also lost to) could be said to be more skilful than the scalps on GGG's list. But - and this is my point - if you are comparing resume's in order to determine WHO WOULD WIN between Canelo and GGG, then you have to take into account the size advantage that Golovkin's scalps have, over Canelo's. That is my point.

Who gives a fuck? Golovkin's entitled to ask what he wants. If the fight doesn't happen there'll still be the same posters on here, some saying that Golovkin priced himself out, some saying that Canelo lowballed him, whatever figures come out. Accusations will abound and it'll be the same old merry-go round. For the record I believe that somewhere in the region of 65/35 - 70/30 is fair.

Team Canelo clearly want this fight.

Canelo is the A-side and the lineal champion.

Golovkin is nothing more than the bookies favourite.

    He should take the deal.
