Huge fan of big George but his second career excepting one punch is extremely thin as well.

A word on the sprint debate, every guy to go below 9.80 has been caught cheating at some time or another, bar one.

Yeah. But everything a fighter his age at that time produces on that level is a plus, I suppose.

But what that means for his ranking all depends on what you put your emphasis on.

His second career was a plus for sure, even without the Moorer win.

I think that it would be very hard to exclude Marciano from your top ten, if you were ranking based on resume.

There isn’t really anything much to find fault with on paper, except that he had a comparatively short tenure at the top.

In Frazier’s case, it would depend on what weighting you gave to certain variables.

How many huys did Joe Luois face that could be classed as 'real opposition' .
Carl The Cat was more dominant against Haye than Wlad was.

To directly answer the question, yes very easily. I may not agree but I certainly wouldn't accuse of being Rasta Borat. Head to Head weighted analysis makes a stronger argument for Marciano's exclusion even though he beat everyone that was available.

For Louis more than double than what Marciano had.

Carl wasn't more dominant but he did stop Haye.
Carl was being beaten until Haya gassed out, very competitive fight, not a dominant fight.

And here is the crux of the matter.

You can make a case against him on the head to head argument.

If you are grading him based on resume, you can’t really penalise him for his opponents being small/old.

He is consistently fighting the #1 contender, and he is always beating them.

Marciano's main reason he's rememberd is that 49-0. Record. Its pretty hard to argue against perfection. But when you look at the caliber of the fighters he defeated. He doesn't have that "one". He doesn't have that one fighter every reasonable fight fan can see that was special at the time he defeated them. They were either old or small, and both most of the time. Same with Mayweather jr. Competition very suspect. But Frazier had that "one". He defeated a close to Prime Ali. I can envision Frazier that night defeating almost any Heavy in history. Can't say the same about Marciano. So I wouldnt argue Marciano being out the top ten. But Frazier to me is still from 7 to 10 in the history of heavyweight boxing.

I think that you greatly overvalue the one good win.

The records of great fighters don't hang on one good win; they hang on consistent form against the best challengers available.

Otherwise James Douglas is in the top five.

Disagree with you. What Buster did was a complete shocker. Nothing in his history would've suggested he could have that kind of performance. Frazier was THE heavyweight champion of the world. And defeated some very good contenders. Fight of the century was 50/50. Douglas Vs Tyson was something like 10 to 1. A hellava big difference.
