I almost agree with you. But BIG doesn't mean necessarily EASY to hit ....:eyebrow2:

Yeah. Foster was a great for his size, but he didn't have what it takes to be owning the heavyweight division at that weight. He didn't hit as hard as Golovkin. I think GGG would do better.

Sure, why not? Superheavyweight us already here. Anything over 225lb. Half the cruisers are 220 after weigh in anyway.

Not easy. But certainly easier. The target is larger.

If he suckerpunched a super heavy when he wasn't paying attention, sure.

Golovkin wouldn't go up just one weight to fight Ward.

No way in hell would he ever go up to LH and fight Kovalev. What on earth makes you think he'd challenge heavy weights ? :eyebrow2:

What makes you say that Golovkin hits harder than Bob Foster?

I thought you had a specific plan. I don't want to put words in your mouth.

I don't know, a 50-pound spread still seems pretty big. You would be talking about having somebody who weighs 175 pounds taking on somebody that weighs 225lb, then mixing in modern day weight cutting.

I think I'd feel more comfortable if the heavyweight division was from say 200 pounds to 230 pounds. With anything over 230 pounds would be super heavyweight. I think Boxing and Combat Sports as a whole needs to completely rethink the way it handles weigh ins. I favor day of fight weigh in and measuring hydration as well. Evidence shows that traumatic head injuries results in large part from dehydration.

I think a lot of problems could be solved if hydration is used as a measurement in terms of fighter safety and removing freak science is the integral part of modern-day fight preparation.

However, there is also the reality that by incorporating these methods you are going to have more fights that possibly cancelled because one of the fighters is not prepared. Under the current system in which the fighter only needs to make weight for an hour days prior to a fight opens the door that more than likely they will be able to slip under the wire. However, this is not in the best interest to the health of the fighters and to boxing overall.

Mostly the impact of their blows, and the technique in their punches. I think Golovkin uses less output to produce more power.

For instance, the way he knocks Ishidas head back with a half extended jab.

But that still makes an extra weight class and keeps the dreaded cruserweights! Why have lightheavy, cruiser, heavyweight AND Superheavyweight?
When you could just have Light heavy, Heavy and Superheavyweight just as they do in the Amateurs?

Heavyweight is 179-201lb in the Amatuers. When you think how much weight fighters with a weight limit rehydrate the best classic sized heavyweights throughout history could meet this.

The reality would be 220 heavyweights on fight night.
