Magsayo nor Pagara belong in the same breath with Nietes.

Why the disparity between stablemates? Why do you figure Nietes doesn't help impart his craft with the up and comers? Is there any bad blood between them?

I know Viloria and Donaire had a pretty long & bitter rivalry, though for the most part there's a strong feeling of camaraderie among Filipino boxers.

Must just be me, I guess, but I really enjoy watching technical fighters like Nietes put on boxing lessons.

Same. He isn't a runner and doesn't clinch to excess. Just a pure counter puncher. I see nothing about him you could really complain about.

Watched it. I think I was being too generous since I actually gave Sosa a round (the first) because Nietes was simply dominating throughout. If he was slightly more active, he would've knocked out Sosa easily but he said post-fight that he planned to go the full twelve rounds to test out his stamina at 112, so I guess we can't blame him. He was just picking Sosa apart, albeit a Sosa that's not even close to the one we saw years ago at 108. Sosa could not land ANYTHING. Nietes showed a wide array of his offensive repertoire and it was simply a masterclass performance against an outclasses opponent. Looked very comfortable at 112.

Lack of heart, no stamina, no plan B. Just a few of the flaws that a lot of Filipino boxing fans attribute to ALA fighters. Probably due to all the expectations the stable has built in the past which was followed by numerous failures and eventual backlash. I feel it's unfair but it has sticked.

Cool. Yeah, Sosa is a natural 108 but then so is Nietes. Also they're similar in age. So to me this wasn't really a bigger younger man picking on a washed up smaller guy.

Sosa has been in more wars, though, and was never as defensively sound.

    Ioka vs. Nietes sounds joyous.

So this was probably Sosa's last dance, are we reckoning? At least on this stage. Maybe adios match in Mexico.

Ioka would prove too much for Nietes IMO, it would be competitive for the first 4 or 5 rounds but eventually Kazuto would take over and outwork Donnie.
