Slow and crude compared to who? You don't seem to understand how to weigh testimonies. If Rocky was an unbalanced fighter, how did he beat Charles, Walcott, Moore, and Louis? Even if they were old, how does a fighter with no balance beat them? It's not realistic.

And if you actually watch his fights, he doesn't have balance problems. He just carries this tremendous power, and sometimes it's hard for him to fully contain and control it.

How many newbie boxers have you ever known to fall on the door from punching? Nobody does that. If Rocky did that, it was because he had incredible power, not because he had bad balance.

Do you also consider Foreman to be crude and poor balanced? I can't tell if you're calling Rocky bad compared to legends, or compared to average heavyweights.

Louis was knocked out, like literally. And you are correct about Charles.

Looking forward to your response, JJ fan #1.

I just want to be sure we're talking Foreman crude, and not 2 week amateur crude.

If that's the case, fair point.

Nothing has been omitted deliberately or otherwise. The likes of a Lennox Lewis would absolutely destroy the 1950s fighters that Marciano went life and death with.No commission would sanction a fight between him and Harry Mathews or Don C*ckell, Lastarza would be cake, and a 40 years old Moore would be in grave danger had he fought a prime Lewis.

"If you actually watch his fights", you sound like the late departed Perry!
I own all of his filmed fights that are in the marketplace, I've had them for over 45years. Marciano fell over when he missed punches, that is bad balance by any definition! Read and learn!

"Trying to knock the challenger out with one punch, the 29-year-old Marciano was over-eager and awkward. He lunged, butted, hit below the belt, on the break and after the bell. Once, he swung so wildly that he missed and slipped clumsily to the canvas" That's just the Lastarza fight ,there are others if anyone wants to look them up.

That's a sign of a huge puncher. Haven't you seen a power puncher slip on the canvas after missing with a huge lunge? It happens.

If you want to compare Marciano to Ali, sure, his balance wasn't good. But you act like his flaws are way bigger than they actually are. Marciano was a great fighter.

The underlined is just about the most ignorant statement I have ever seen posted on a boxing forum. Joe Louis, Julian Jackson,Earnie Shavers,Sonny Liston,Alexis Arguello,Ray Robinson,Eduardo Lausse,Florentino Fernadez,Bob Foster and a few thousand more prove that it is complete and utter nonsense! Now watch this link in which at 1.09 Manny Steward talks up George Foreman and notice he doesn't include Marciano in his top ten heavyweights at all! The interviewer introduces Marciano's name at 2.59 and Steward says correctly he was the greatest overachiever,he was clumsy, cut easily, had problems with his balance ,fought past it opponents and was too small .

No it isn't, that statement is absolutely ridiculous. When did you see Liston swing miss and fall over Julian Jackson, Golovkin,Cleveland Williams, Joe Louis? Its totally ludicrous .Now watch THIS. Manny Steward ranks the top ten heaviesat 1.09 he talks about Foreman.at2.59 Marciano ,he calls him the greatest overachiever which he was, he says he was clumsy ,said he cut easily and had problems with his balance, fought men past their best and was too small not really a heavyweight!

Trying to knock the challenger out with one punch, the 29-year-old Marciano was over-eager and awkward. He lunged, butted, hit below the belt, on the break and after the bell. Once, he swung so wildly that he missed and slipped clumsily to the canvas

Do you even know what the term knocked out means?

Mike Tyson swung himself onto the floor trying to hit Bonecrusher Smith. There are many other examples.

It never effected Tysons reputation did it? Why do you keep using it?

Mannys testimony helps your argument, and I appreciate you posting video example. You do realize that over achiever is a good thing, right? He was saying despite his physical short comings, Rocky achieved a lot.

Here is another testimony on Marciano from Ali, who did some sparring with him.

 @ claiming at losing balance is a sign of being a huge puncher.

It just means you swing for the fences.

It's impressive if you can knockout world class men with short punches.
And nobody loses his balance from a short punch.

If you lose balance it just means you're punching too wide.

You know Tyson did some dirty stuff too right? As well as Holyfield? Do you mention it in every time someone says Tyson is great? You are mentioning these points as if they're more meaningful than they actually are.

Marciano fell from a lunging hook because he threw lunging punches with insane power.

So if I find clips of a guy like Tyson falling from punching too hard, you will also think he has balance problems?

Again, trying to gauge the relativity of these statements.

I know what over achiever means and I 've used it on this forum myself when describing Marciano.
Ali and Marciano pulled their punches in a choreographed stunt.Desperate Marciano fans trying to give him some props against bigger heavies always use this ,as though it means anything, it doesn't, Ali was always gracious to other fighters as were most of the champs ie Foreman ,Dempsey etc
