117-111 is how i had it. As has already been mentioned, its a real worry that eddie is wording the judges up. Thing is with fast car is $ is king and the rest is by all means necessary.
How anyone can defend the nob that is O'Connor! The worse one on the circuit bar none when it comes to big fights.
I was thinking this as well. Paulie was bang on about Crolla shouldn't referee his own fight in relation to the body/low shots but Adam Smith seemed keen to get him off that topic whenever it arose. I Rarely agree with Froch but even he was calling it fairly in commentary. Hearn needs to watch the fight again because 117-111 was fair.
There are some judges that should be banned, no doubt, but not so sure about this one...................
Typical matchroom though, they spin every loss into a robbery or even a moral victory. We complain about Germany and America but our judging is some of the worst i have seen
Was he? I didn't know that. And yeah, that's disgraceful. I like Crolla and wanted him to win, but the gulf in class was clear to see. Put it this way, if you flipped the fight so Linares' work was Crolla's and vice versa, the comms would have been calling for a clear Crolla victory. I can't see any criteria in which Crolla outperformed Linares who landed more punches, and the more hurtful ones, controlled pace and distance for most of the bout and when Crolla tried to turn up the heat, Linares nearly stopped him. His defence was better too. The only aspect of the fight in which Crolla had the advantage was the fact he was taking the fight to Linares but that was irrelevant. He was getting picked off. Also, if Linares had been complaining about low blows (which were borderline but fine IMO), Smith would have made out this to be a sign of a fighter in distress. A couple of times he tried to imply Linares was flagging for merely 'looking at his corner' a couple of times. All this is getting so bad, I've taken to watching large chunks of the Sky fights with the sound muted. If I was Linares I would seriously consider moving up in weight and side-stepping the rematch, because he will need a knock out to win that.
Yeah the cards have been linked to in another thread. Had Crolla been able to muster something in the final three rounds then he would have retained his titles with a majority draw. Had he won two, well... I wouldn't want either of those two clowns or O'Connor in the middle in a rematch if I were Linares. The way Hearn is trying to set it up it looks like he might have to knock Crolla out to get a draw in a return bout.
Most people I've come across scored the fight 116-112 Linares, so 117-111 is far from 'outrageous'...
i do two scorecards now, one for how the fight actually goes and one for how i think it will go based on it being in a fighters backyard and them being favoured....quite worrying how often its the latter scoring that is closer to the official scorecard
