Floyd Mayweather says he is the best boxer in history, ahead of Roberto Duran, SRR and Ali
We all know Floyd Mayweather is the best boxer in this generation and the best in his era. But what if he competed during the time where those such as Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard fought?
Would he still be undefeated?
Would he still dominate?

No way he retires undefeated. No way.

In Robinson era he has to fight 2-3 times per MONTH, not 1-2 per YEAR.

He'd suffer few losses before he reaches his 100th win.

He'd end his career like 120-15-5 (35 KOs).

In Durans and Leonards era he has less fights but more than his actual career.

He'd be great fighter still but with few losses on record.

70-7 or something like that.

loses to both Duran and SRL at any weight 147 and under. Duran KO's him, SRL wins UD in a silly slapfest.

Duran
Pryor
Leonard
Hearns
Benitez
All beat him in that Era. Gonna explore Robinsons era soon.

No. Because Mayweather is a terrible, arrogant person with an obnoxious personality, he loses to every other ATG (and quite a few non-ATGs) from previous eras.

what does being a terrible arrogant person got to do with boxing? i agree he is a bad person (woman beater, flaunts wealth etc) but that does not mean he wasnt one of the greatest boxers to ever live
I think he would lose a few fights yes, but he would still be top 5 at least in previous eras

He'd still be one of the best, but people like the Fab 4 are all wrong for him. His best (slim as hell) chance would be against Marvellous Marvin Hagler, which is basically enough to tell you that he doesn't stand a chance against Duran, Leonard and especially not Hearns. SRR would clown him.

As Robert mentioned above, there are still guys like Pryor and Benitez lurking about that I'd say could well beat him too. That was a golden era for the weights.

Floyd would win a lot of fights in any era. I don`t know that his hands would hold up over a long career if he had to be active the way those old time greats needed to be. As far as the big names I don`t think he beats any of the FAB 4 at their peaks. I doubt he would even fight any of them. He may have taken a fight with Duran after he got into his mid 30s. Hearns would be the be the absolute last guy he would fight. I do give Mayweather a 50-50 shot against Benitez and I think he probably beats Aaron Pryor.

Robinson`s era was even tougher. There were more good fighters around. So if Floyd fought the 15th ranked Welterweight in the world it wouldn`t be the cakewalk it would be today. Just saying he could lose on any given night. His style wouldn`t make any $$$ in those days. Probably end up being like a Holman Williams

There's no way he would have a resume like Robinsons and go undefeated. But he should be the next best of the era. He's one of the greatest ever.

Hearns would be a really tough fight for him.

Mayweather looks exposable, until he isn't. People generations from now looking at footage of him will never understand...

Good one but I disagree. The film evidence is pretty clear on Mayweather's extraordinary skills and talent, and I think that future generations will continue to give him tons of respect.

I always find comments like this curious. Did either ever fight an opponent with the attributes of the other? Who's the most defensively gifted opponent Whitaker ever fought? Whitaker would be the favorite but why does he beat Mayweather "for sure"?
