The two sides of the MGM argument summed up nicely by kenny Egan and paddy Barnes here: http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sports/boxing/naiveignorant-kenneth-egan-blasts-paddy-barnes-over-kinahan-comments-35082511.html
Well he fell prey to the jinx of Rio 2016. Lost a split decision while picking up 2 public warnings. Hard to know what he will do now. When you look at the recent problems with other successful traveller boxers - Nevin, Fury, BJS etc its fairly plain to see that the discipline, dedication and application needed for long-term, sustained success, seems to be a problem for lads from a travelling background, sadly. Talent alone is not enough.
looks like he is fiting big sexy.... now that's a good fite if it happens....although I would preferred 2 c them fite at a later stage of both careers... this would have been a huge fite and a headliner if they had of waited
He won't be fighting Big Sexy. Turner isn't eligible to fight for the Irish title yet. He'll probably be fighting someone like Dorian Darch over 8 rounds for the Celtic Nations title
Hey Dutchie - glad youre still with us! As for Andy - well he lost to Billy Joe exactly as I predicted he would. Exactly as I alone predicted. Remember that? Every man and his dog were telling me Andy would be too big, to strong, too tough, too seasoned, hit too hard etc etc. All the 'experts'! Nowadays Andy has got his pipe and slippers out and does a bit of gardening for exercise...and he is better off.
Seriously though I do hope Andy calls it a day at this stage. The fact that he wasn't screaming for an immediate rematch with BJS suggests his hunger for boxing is one. For the record he did better than I expected against Billy Joe. I expected BJS to comfortably outpoint Andy, but Andy surprised me. He ran Billy Joe close - closer than I thought he would to be fair.
Think if Andy tried to box him rather than wait for the big punch that never came he would have got a result, a lot of people thought(myself included)that Andy would take bjs out in the latter rounds with his power but Andy didn't box at all in the earlier rounds and bjs was too fresh to take a ko,was hoping Andy would keep busy, a fight in Ireland or England might kick start it again, hopefully he doesn't go straight in looking for a belt as I think he might be a bit down the pecking order due to inactivity.
it was very frustrating that Andy didnt 'go for it' a bit more - particularly in the later rounds. The fight was up for grabs - he could have won that fight if only he could have upped the pace over the last few rounds. Dunn whether the problem was mental or he just didnt have the physical ability or what. That plus the fact he wasnt screaming for a rematch means I dont get the impression Andy has much hunger for boxing anymore.
