Fury is the 3rd unavenged loss for Wlad. Problem for his legacy?

Lennox Lewis probably shouldn't get credit for avenging McCall, who had a mental breakdown in the ring. Was basically gifted a win for just showing up.

Wlad if he had fought Purrity again would've beat him, but Sanders likely would've knocked out Wlad again. Getting blown out like that was not a fluke and would've been a mistake for an immediate rematch. Sanders was very game against Vitali, seemingly ready to die in the ring taking huge punishment. I believe Wlad would've beaten Fury in the rematch before I knew of Fury's problems.

Far as legacy goes, Wlad won't be overrated that's for sure.

 

tjhis is about title fights not fights when are so shot you don't care if you win or lose as long as you get paid.

Its not klitmans fault that fury was a crackhead though. Although its not good to lose to a crackhead and then be unable to beat him in a rematch.

 

to be fair to wlad and holmes, thyey were end of career losses, not likely to be avenged.

and to foreman, his was end of career (1st one) so he was never going to be able to avenge them later.

andTyson's loss to douglas, he wasn't going to face him in prison, was he?

 

It's not important , Wlad's legacy is secure - the only question marks are due to his era and the fact he never fought an ATG or even HOF fighter

 

Gene Tunney did the same. Wlad was 39 at the time of the Fury loss.

 

It's f--king depressing knowing a bum like Wladimir reigned for 10 years. Let's face it, Fury wasn't the first of us to get depressed by that fact.
Fury's the only guy on this earth who knows how much of a bum Wladimir really is.

Wladimir presents absolutely no challenge, no motivation. What's the point? Boxing was supposed to be some big thing. But with bums like Wlad able to reign for 10 years, the position of heavyweight champion becomes meaningless.
Fury probably started to question whether he's a bum too.
And decided there's more to life than a bum's game like boxing, it's more respectable to stay at home sniffing coke and drinking beer.
Wlad turned heavyweight boxing into BUM CITY.

Fury is just a nutjob that caught lightning in a bottle one night and got a win over possibly the worst version of Wlad to ever enter the ring. Both have proven to cheat. What's depressing is it seems all of the "top" HW boxers have to rely on cheating and politics to get/keep the belts, instead of actual ability in the ring.

 

Vlad stopped Brewster, in the first fight he has been drugged..............

In the Purrity fight Vlad ran out of gas, Vitali was the first to stop Purrity, Vlad would have stopped Purrity also, in a rematch........

Against Corrie Sanders Vlad lost that one fair and square...............I warned them............Sanders was in the best shape of his entire career, had been preparing for Valouev to fight in South Africa.....Vlad did try to get a rematch, but Corrie would not fight him, Vitali later stopped Corrie. Sanders was a fantastic fighter whenever he trained, he was 6 feet 5 inches tall, southpaw, extremely fast, and a huge power puncher, Vlad would have won the rematch, Vlad did not train for that fight, no sparring, esp. not with a southpaw, all he did was a general workout and lift a lot of weights...........Lennox Lewis admitted that he has avoided Sanders during his career................Vlad would have knocked Fury out in the rematch, no doubt about it...........I know why Vlad lost that fight...................

Sanders would have easily knocked Wilder out, he was called "The Sniper" for a reason...............

 

It was entirely Wlads fault that 10 years of challengers were cheated out of a fair chance of winning. 10 years winning via illegal clinch fest , not boxing.

Nah , he looked even worse against no skill Sam Peter when he was in his absolute prime. Fury makes any version of Wlad look like a pile of poop.

you are comparing midcareer with end career. they are different entirely.

if we're speaking unrelated tangentials then Bruno has nothing to do with it.

 

The key words there regarding Fury are 'though no fault of his own.'

Boxing 'experts' do their homework and take those sorts of things into account when making assessments.

 

I can't see how not re-matching Fury, through no fault of his own, could add significantly to the damage already done to Wlad's legacy, in him having lost to Fury in the first place.
