Hows about ... BJS fights Canelo, loses by blatant robbery, Floyd then fights Canelo at Caneloweight, with a 160 rehydration clause, and retires 160lb Linear Champion

I don't know if Canelo is still the lineal MW champ. Thought about it for a while. Yes, he hasn't lost it. But he gave up his belt, and moved to another division for a title fight. But that said...your scenario wouldn't shock me. Boxing is not today, what it was yesterday.

I'm not sure the lineal title is a belt per se. Yes he gave up the wbc belt but he still beat the guy who beat the guy etc which makes it all for the worse. i've been a big fan for most of my life, especially the mw division, and i'm hard pressed to find a scenario when the lineal mw champ fights a weak chinned jww in his only defense, then gives his belt to his mandatory and basically says i may see you in a year in a half or so. it's a joke really but it be what it be.

That fight will never happen again. That's just wishful thinking.

No, it's not. However, this is different then had he been unfairly stripped and was still campaigning at MW. But he gave it up, and dropped a weight class. As far as that means to me, he's given up his right to be called the current lineal MW champion. Just my take on it.
