The Brook - Vargas PPV was going to flop. Vargas was being paid way to much for a guy who wouldn't generate any interest.
Sky was not going to invest millions into that PPV and do the same a few weeks later for Eubank - 3G. You can't have two PPV's in one month.
Golovkin was already at the table so they swapped Vargas for him and went with they match-up that would generate the most interest. And 3G couldn't have been more happy about been given a Welter Weight instead of a big powerful guy his own size.
