According to one newspaper TF has given up his WBA WBO Belts, and has been made champion in recess so that he will be in pole position to challenge for them when he returns to the ring.

I thought he had only dropped the WBO one. But it was a matter of time anyway before they'd strip him.

Worse heavyweight champion ever. Hopefully he's banned for a long long time.

    Good.

I love Fury as a fighter, but he was holding them belts hostage. If he is indeed champion in recess, he should fight back for those belts when he's good and ready.

About time. It was bs that he was hogging those belts with no intention of defending them

Had heard he had done a deal to vacate the WBO belt as long as he would get an immediate shot upon his return and I suspect he's done a similar deal with the WBA. It's the best he could of hoped for as he has been unable to provide the medical certificates requested and can't explain the refusal of taking a test which breaks his rematch contract with Wlad.

The timing coincides with his hearing before the BBBoC today, I assume he thinks he's going to get stripped. He's held onto the titles as long as he could get away with it, which while unfair to the rest of the division, is understandable. When you've worked towards your life long goal to just hand it over must be gut wrenching.

You know BB, a borderline person like Fury works for his life's goal for many years, then 'decides' to tear it apart in a few short weeks. These aren't circumstances beyond control. Not an accident, a virus infection or force majeure. This is Fury's own doing -- and even if by neglecting professional treatment for years. There are many people diagnosed with depression who sought professional help and now working successfully in professional environment. I think Fury himself and his entire entourage of family members simply lack the seriousness and professionalism to address the issues at hand. They were after quick cash that's all. Go check Peter Fury's posting of photos of his mansion in the South of France and his luxury car collection.

When he's 60, sitting lonely and broke in a bar somewhere in Manchester, drinking all by himself at the counter.. he'll tell the patrons "You know, back in 2015 I was heavyweight champion of the world" while he chugs down a double vodka while no one is really listening.

I recall you having no problem with Vitali holding the WBC belt hostage for over a year before he eventually retired. He froze out Stiverne and you were perfectly happy with it.

True everything that has happened is of his own doing, he is the instrument of his own destruction. While he blames others and acts out, deflecting the real causes of his own downfall, the truth his he needs to come to terms with the fact it's his actions that has led him down this path. Unless he realises this he will very likely end up the sad figure you depict.

You recall wrong. I criticized Vitali for that behavior which basically resembled Lewis' belt-hogging while Vitali was complaining about Lewis' behavior. Vitali was complaining about Lewis, then copied his exact same strategy while Stiverne was waiting for his shot. Not good at all, bad for boxing.

Tyson is in a great position.

He has won the WBO, WBA and Ring titles. No one can ever take that away from him. He has the belts at home and can proudly display them.

All he lacks is the millions of £££ to go with them. And that will be very easily rectified when he comes back.

He's a in a great situation and is in control of his own destiny.

That largely depends on what UKAD and the BBBoC come up with.
If they ban him and maybe even retroactively, then they can take it away from him and take away his licence.
So things might even turn out in a way that he officially never was the champ, and all his belts and honors gone with it.

So he's not in a great situation and certainly not in control of his own destiny yet.
