WBA RULES IN FAVOR OF GOLOVKIN FOR 75-25 PURSE SPLIT

The WBA rejected Danny Jacobs’ request for a larger percentage of the pending purse bid, agreeing that Gennady Golovkin will get a 75-25 share of the pot instead of the 60-40 take that Jacobs’ side was asking for, the WBA announced on its Twitter account on Wednesday and which was later confirmed by Golovkin promoter Tom Loeffler.

The WBA’s decision, which was voted on unanimously by its Championships Committee, comes as a blow to Jacobs’ camp, which was hoping his designation as a “regular” middleweight champion would allow him to reap more of the purse split.

“I think the WBA recognized that Gennady has made 16 title defenses,” Loeffler said on Wednesday. “He’s been the WBA champion for over six years, so we’re just happy they upheld their rules and hopefully it allows us to continue to move closer to make the fight with Jacobs. I think it’s always more beneficial for a promotion to try and work out a deal so both sides are satisfied.”

In making the decision, the WBA took into consideration Golovkin’s dominance as a champion. Golovkin (36-0, 33 knockouts) has held the belt since 2010 when he stopped Milton Nunez in the first round for the “interim” title. He was elevated to a “Super” champion in 2014 after his stoppage of Daniel Geale.

GGG's problem is he's a highly dangerous opponent who doesn't yield huge revenues from his fights. Badly-managed.

He was fighting in Germany for too long. He should have come to the US 7-8 years ago.

i wouldn't say badly managed at all, the fact he is from Kazakhstan limits he's earning potential to an extent, he doesn't have a built in fanbase. The fact he is so well known shows he is well managed

I'm picking Danny to destroy Golovkin.

Of course, like most of Golovkin's detractors that is until the fight is officially signed then I will see Danny as a shameless cherry pick.

id say he would have to bid a lot, which would mean he would probably lose money, GGG would get a ton of money and jacobs will still probably not make the money he wants

if hbo actually stopped ggg fighting in this scenario and he lost he's wba title ,i think every boxing fan should turn its back on hbo

Either GGG vacates or fights on showtime and gets sued by HBO.

lol...golovkins fans are so delusional......this stuff doesnt happen...they just make it up in their heads

what does happen in reality is....ggg fans will tell you hes trying to make smart business decisions...and that not fighting ward was smart because it wasnt good business....but when it comes to other guys and fighting golovkin they say "i dont care about tix or ppvs or money...im a fan...i want the best to fight the best for honor and pride"

i can show you a prime example just today

i think the anatolian is correct

ggg either vacates or gets sued by hbo

which basically tells you he should have agreed to 60/40 to get this fight done....but hes greedy

dont u think agreeing to 60/40 is pretty fair and gets the fight done? wouldnt it be worth it to ggg?

now haymon can bid a ridiculous amount to block this fight...or not bid and have jacobs pass on this....fairly sure that ggg agreeing to 60/40 solves all of this.....having this go to a split jacobs doesnt want gives him a reason to duck

reminds me of canelo...where ggg said he wouldnt go to a catchweight..didnt even call canelos bluff to see if he'd actually even fight.....same here....say 60/40 and see if jacobs is bluffing...worst case is he isnt and youve got a decent fight

Well-known and yet doesn't make good numbers. That's the definition of badly-managed in terms of good business acumen. If GGG made even a third of what Floyd yielded per fight, boxers would be queuing round the block to sign and fight him. Tyson was even more feared but didn't struggle to get most of his main rivals through the ropes. Reason? They made good money. Against GGG there's a chance you'll get busted up for a nickel and dime.

I can't believe Danny thought his Regular title would get him a better purse split. The guy is delusional.
