The thing with a purse bid is that HBO/K2 have to win. If they lose they are in a big hole as Golovkin isn't supposed to fight on Showtime. But losing a hard-earned belt is also unthinkably bad for Golovkin, who has spent a lot of his career chasing them belts.

So honestly 25% of the winning bid is probably equal to 40% of whatever deal was being offered before.

 

This is Jacobs moment of truth. I.E. his Mayweather moment. He either believes in himself and his skills or the doesn't. He needs to put that belt in the garbage and go after Saunders

 

I do actually believe Saunders will fight GGG. He knows he hasn't got many options to get paid because they just can't work with Eubank and Frank Warren struggles to get big fights unfortunately.

Maybe that's possible for Dec 10th. Although perhaps getting IBF mandatory (Tureno Johnson) out of the way less than 9 months before the Canelo fight and the next one is called (given the IBF rehydration clause and how Canelo enters the ring bigger than Anthony Joshua), wouldn't be the worst idea either if the Jacobs fight goes tits up.

Remember though this is taking place on Dec 10th. What else is taking place on Dec 10th? Joshua v Klitschko probably. That's a Showtime fight. Will Showtime be putting any money up to see Jacobs get sparked?
