People's hyping of Ortiz like he's some sort of unbeatable monster because he's had a couple of tailor made fights remind me of what people was saying about Matthysse before Garcia, Makabu before Bellew, Barosso before Crolla.....he's dangerous but he's not elite
So you like whytes chances? Ortiz is not unbeatable noone is, I think if someone can take him late they have a good chance of beating him but he passes the eye test and has the best boxing skills in the HW division if nothing else.
Not a bad fight actually. Bit more competitive than people make out and I say this as a huge Ortiz fan. Just to be clear, Ortiz beats him but I don't think it's a walk in the park.
I don't think Whyte is quite top level either but its not the mismatch all these quotes make it out to be. And I think Whyte took better shots against Joshua than I suspect Kong could take.
Noone doubts whyte's chin or will, his a very tough guy but his skills are just not up to scratch in my opinion. His improving slightly but I just don't see a high ceiling for him, Ortiz would have beaten the Joshua that Whyte fought that night imo, both men fought with pride rather than their heads.
Don't think Whyte would be an easy fight for anyone because his always game I just think the vast difference in skills and experience would show. Whyte has no backfoot game which would allow ortiz to time him and set his feet for big shots.
Joshua would fight with his head against Ortiz. And I don't think we've ever seen Ortiz have to react to a high pressure situation.
Never seen a situation to qualify that statement. I don't think he has ever had to use whatever is in his head as he has always been able to blast people out early. Things will be changing the next few years though so will be very interesting to so how he can react to adversity.
He would have to or else have it taken off by King Kong. Your right though we haven't seen enough of Ortiz to know just how good he really is, but kinda like Golovkin we can only go off the eye test and how he's dealt with the comp so far until one of the top guys in his division are brave enough fight him.
I don't think Haye would get him out in 3 in my opinion, considering he took like 5 rounds with Chisora who was at the time was a bit better than this Whyte but that was Haye closer to his prime. Ive not been impressed with this version of Haye not to mention we don't know how goood he really is as he's fought two cab drivers in his last two fights.
I like Dillian, don't get me wrong, I find him entertaining and he seems a decent lad, but he is very very crude in style and technique. He telegraphs everything, and has got pretty bad balance issues. In a way it is very similar to Haye v Browne. IMO the first mistake they make against Haye they go....and judging by both their last fights, it would be pretty early.
I've never seen a situation where it doesn't quite frankly other than in round 2 against Whyte. In round 3 he seemed to take the round off to get his legs beck under him then took over after that. And he seems much more composed in there than most 3 year pro's.
There is a lot more unanswered questions about Ortiz than about Golovkin. I think Whyte is far less made to order for Ortiz style than Jennings and Thompson were.
I agree with your assessment of Whyte. I do think your speaking of the old Haye though this new Haye isn't as explosive as he used to be and we know Whyte can take a punch. I think Haye would stop him but only mid to late rounds for me.
