Regardless of the WBA rules, Jacobs deserves more than a few hundred thousand to fight Golovkin. It is laughable that anyone would try and put this on Jacobs if the fight doesn't come off.

There are a couple of key differences between Golovkin and Tyson. Historically, heavyweights get paid several times the going rate for middleweights because they are the apex predators who would win all the fights if there were no weight classes. Then you have to consider that Tyson had all of the belts, and so there was no avoiding him, but Lewis and Bowe still managed to. Lastly, Tyson fought in the 80s and 90s, back before Mayweather made it a stigma to have a loss on your record.

 

Be quite hard if they want Showtime to help them out. That is the night it looks like Joshua-Klitschko's gonna happen so their budget might be empty and we see Jacobs get thrown to the HBO piranhas.

i think he deserves more, also. he may not have a fan base of his own, but what he brings to the ring would help sell the fight. ggg will have a hard time finding credible opponents to shine against if they dont get paid for the asswhoopin. for what this fight will generate, he should get above a million.

 

Well it's not PBC, it would be Jacobs' promoter (DiBella?) to bid and if he wins then the promoter will shop for a network, so actually even if Jacobs wins the bid it could still end up on HBO.

The only guy who should be stuck in straight away in a big fight against the divisional king is GGG. He's needs GTFO here with trying to fight Carl Froch at 168 before you take a pop at the king. Danny Jacobs should be permitted another 18 months to fight the Paul Smith's or the Alexander Brands of this world
