I consider myself a GGG fan, but I would predict Bhop in this one. Just too many tricks up his sleeve. The guy knows how to control pace and range.
The only plus for GGG is power and even that is debatable. Hopkins has more size, skill, strength, defense, ring iQ, chin, dirty tricks, mental game.. Not saying GGG can't win but the odds are against him.
Yes but that doesn't change the fact that he was 49 now does it. What other fighter besides Hopkins are fighting at that age? Hopkins was well beyond his prime in that fight, be serious.
Everything that Golovkin does well (and there are MANY things), Hopkins knows how to neutralize. ...and yes, Hopkins can be put down, but KEEPING him down is a fools' errand. Go at him with the disposition of a puncher thinking KO and you just get embarrassed worse/faster.
Martin Murray was able to push back Golovkin in the clinch. He controlled in him in there and Golovkin exhibited little to no inside skills. Do the mathematics here Martin Murray
Hopkins has too much height and reach. Plus, he fights dirty and is good at spoiling. He'd literally hug GGG to death.
Exactly. It would be ugly, but he'd get the W. Par for the course, basically. Golovkin is special but doesn't have any x factor to prevent his boxing getting spoiled the way Hopkins spoiled untold dozens'. It would somewhat call to mind the victory of Bernard's rival Calzaghe over Kessler, actually. Golovkin could make some adjustments but he wouldn't be the one that ultimately made the most or the best adjustments.
Gerald McClellan is a monster. B hop is unique B hop is great B hop is one of a kind But i would not label him as a monster.
there needs to start being "who gives a **** about hypothetical bs" choices in these endless garbage threads.
