But he didn't box against Povetvin at all. He'd have been beaten in a fair fight. How does beating all those bums make you one out of 10 of the greatest HWs that ever lived?

A prime Briggs and Morrison destroy all those guys a lot easier than Wlad did. And without any illegal clinging . Thats only mentioning two

lol at including Sam Peter. James Toney beat him you fool:risas3::facepalm:

He didn't box Povetkin at all. On that we agree. But he did get the W. Same as Ali did against Foreman. Povetkin is basically the #3 heavyweight of his era after the brothers Klitschko. He's beaten Chagaev, Byrd, Takam, Huck, and Chambers; so he's got a solid record of his own. That's a great win. He would brutalize Briggs or Morrison.

Briggs is just a nobody cherry picking can crusher like Wilder. Who besides an ancient Foreman did he beat? I'll tell you who beat him. I listed him above on Wlad's ledger: Sultan Ibragimov. As for Tommy Morrison, same thing. He was a great white hype with a little pop in his hands. Go look at what Ray Mercer did to him. Byrd would outbox him, Thompson and Chagaev would bomb him out. Haye would win a points decision. Briggs and Morrison might be able to beat Jennings or Pulev. But no way are they beating Povetkin.

Wlad is abysmal.the fury fight proved that when he cant clinch every time he or his opponent throws a punch without being punnished for it,he is useless.ive never seen a fighter with such fear of his opponent landing, which is even worse when your 6"7 and 18 stone fighting the likes of mormeck and ibragimov.
Vitali is far better,he wins honestly and decisively

The same man who got demolished by a midget HW like Lamon Brewster would beat Joe Louis? Watch you don't get caught with those drugs on you.

Fury , Sanders , Brewster is another 3. Ibeauchi , Louis
Morrison blows Haye out of the ring in the second round. Byrd would lose a wide UD , but most likey would get stopped around the 7th round. Byrd was utter chit at heavy weight. The last of the 90's breed destroyed that clown easily in just 5 rounds.
Wlad and Ortiz were the same age when they fought Jennings. A fatter Ortiz blew Jennings away without a single clinch.
Wlad lost 5 rounds to Jennings and was deducted a point for excessive holding.

Wlad is a complete fraud who is unable to perform unless he has a ref in the ring to implement his own house rules. No great in their prime over the past 40 years was ever beaten by a journeyman . Wlad was.
    Top 10 h2h ?:cbiggrin::nut::nut:
get outta here you absolute clown

louis was a master at positioning himself within rage to connect on his opponents. A plodding straight forward bum like Peter closed Wlad down every round and managed to score 3 knock downs. Get off the forum you moron:qmeparto:

If he retired now he'd be a top 16 lock, anything outside the top 2 justifiable by the right criteria. HW top rankings are just a crapshoot, and most people go by h2h anyway.

Great athlete and very professional, always in shape and focused, superb fundamental technique, his dominance for over a decade ranks him among the greats.

But he lacked that extra dimension. Wasn't particularly smart of adaptable, needed 3 losses and hooking up with an ATG trainer for him to finally alter his style and tactics. I mean punching yourself out once is bad, doing it again, suggests you can't learn from your mistakes.

An excellent boxer/spoiler but that style hid some big holes in his skill set. He wasn't good or even decent in close, relied on his size as he lacked upper body movement to slip shots while in range, footwork while well balanced and quick was predictable and lacked enough lateral movement, didn't counter punch enough.

For me he's borderline top 10, anywhere between 9-12 is acceptable. His length of reign, dominance and consistency can't be ignored but head to head I feel he doesn't rank as highly.

Nostalgia is a great thing isnt it.he wasnt a slow plodding fighter either it was just the footage.and he didnt have a bum a month club because he fought bums, thats just what they called great fighters back in the day.
His best wins were against baer (abysmal fighter, laughable technique)
Conn,a lhw who should have beaten him.
An old walcot who had been beaten many times before
He was the 5th person to ko schmelling.
    His resume is threadbare.
I wouldnt say wlad is greater but different eras and its a lot easier positioning yourself to punch against 6 ft fighters equivellant to todays small cruisers than it is against a 6"7 18stone power puncher

    Louis was smaller than Brewster.

Wlad would be bigger, stronger, faster, and have a longer reach. Wlad would outweigh Louis by about 30 lbs.

No way he's right on the money, I could easily see Mills Lane admonishing a lost and hapless Wlad. Same look on his face as the Sanders fight right before the last bomb detonated
