Clear top 10 heavyweight of all time.
    Most title defenses
    3rd most consecutive title defenses
    2nd longest reign in years.

All class outside of the ring type of fighter other could learn a lot from on how to handle themselves.
In the ring style was boring and tendency to hold a lot made him less than a household name

Once he beats Joshua his position in boxing history will be even more than it is now.

I would like to see him get the chance to avenge the fury loss before he retires

Without reading the replies yet, I personally have Wladimir at around 12th or 13th all-time based on several factors. No matter what he does from here on out, I don't see his standing moving much from there.

In the end, he's going to settle right at number 12 for me (even if he loses again). I think he can recapture some titles again, but his career is already defined at this point.

No great in their prime over the past 40 years was ever beaten by a journeyman?

Tyson vs Douglas, Morales vs Raheem, Lewis vs Rahman, Tszyu vs Philips, Duran vs Laing, Napoles vs Stracey, Toney vs Griffin, Toney vs Thadzi, Norris vs Santana, etc.

Chris Byrd was good at heavyweight. He holds victories over Holyfield, Tua, Vitaly Klitschko, Fres Oquendo, and Jameel McCline.

This assessment is dead-on in my opinion. :deal:

Super heavy Olympic gold medallist at only 20. Was a belt champ at 24 beating people like Byrd and Mercer by stoppage. Then mastered a style that saw of all comers for a decade without one blip until 6'9" druggie Fury. Easily an ATG, and still not done. Will go out on his shield vs fanboy favourite Joshua if needs be.

Your definition of journeyman is terrible.

Dinovelvet considers either Lamon Brewster or Corrie Sanders to be journeyman level, and that is why he is knocking Vlad. He said that great fighters don't lose to that level of fighter. I was just pointing out that guys of that level have beaten other greats in the past. It's his definition really.

If he lands the right say good night.
Top ten heavy based on his run. His chin can be cracked though. I really don't think refs in the past would let him hug all day.

I haven't missed a Wlad or Vitali fight in at least ten years. I enjoyed watching both of their styles. I understand some of the criticism of Wladimir, but if you want to be the champ...beat the champ (or beat the champ, go idle whilst doing a ton of blow, and then vacate the titles apparently).

When did i refer to Brewster and Sanderes??. Pathetic way to cover your tracks after you listed a bunch of fighters who were no where near journey man level.
Wlad only ever lost to one journeyman in his career. If you don't know who that is , you have no business coming in here arguing his greatness.
