I agree partially with this. I think Groves leaving Booth also has alot to do with it. Booth was his long term trainer and guided him to a win against Degale and then was fired by Groves late in the training camp of the first Froch fight. He hasn't been on form ever since.

Not the fighter but the Hopkins fights took Taylors soul. Before those fight he would of never fired his trainer Pat Burns. Afterwards Ozell Nelson convinced him to fire him and hire Steward. Taylor and Steward didn't really mesh and Taylor was deteriorating as a boxer leading up to his fight with Pavlik. After the Pavlik loss Taylor called Pat Burns asking him to come back but Pat told him to put Nelson in his place. Taylor told him he would but never called Pat Burns back. Instead he dropped Steward and made Nelson his main trainer.

Pat Burns was the soul of Taylor and trained him since he turned pro. He took Taylor to the pinnacle of his career and than Taylor threw him in the trash.

Like my previous comment on Groves I think if you dig you will find alot of fighters who look stellar and then suddenly don't usually have similar problems. Their either hype jobs, are broken by a better fighter, or like Taylor and Groves they had a good trainer who fit them and they threw it away.

Froch had his best string after Ward.
I think Froch took a lot out of Taylor, Kessler and Groves. Not that they were all in theyr respective primes but thet lost a step after those fights. I think you can add Johnson on that list as well. He seemed to lsow down after that war.

That fight was a good fight, not a brutal fight where both had something taken away from them.
