Why does size matter?

    If I graduated in 2000 than that would make me 34. Far from a kid.

    However I did not but am also not a kid lol.

    Be specific. At what percentage do you feel weight has no impact?

    Every comparison I listed featured Lewis against a (imo) better fighter but in every instance he would destroy the opponent because he was bigger.

    Obviously the percentage difference decreases every time, but where do you draw the line? And are you consistent in that drawing of the line?

    Depends upon the fighting conditions, rds, fighters in question, etc.

    Some fighters can handle big guys some can't it's a skill. Some big guys can handle small quick elusive guys some can't it's a skill.

    I would say that in general size doesn't matter but there are certain cases where it would matter. For instance at anything below the elite level fighters are going to have trouble with size disadvantages. Generally. At the elite level size is insignificant. Generally.

    With boxing as in all things there are all always exceptions even in biology, the 7 characteristics of life for example, there are exceptions.

    So the size disparity between someone like Jack Dempsey and Lennox Lewis, if we imagine them meeting, wouldn't matter? That's fair to say?

    Of course it's a skill. Being big and effective is a skill. Being a successful SHW is a skill.

    But no matter how much of a skill advantage Sweet Pea holds over Lewis, he will lose 100 out of 100.

    James J Corbett and Bob Fitzsimmons are HW champions who will lose 100 out of 100 to Lewis.

    So are Charles and Jersey Joe. Spinks if you count him as a champ.

    You have to accept at some level size trumps skill.

    Dempsey had the skill set to take apart big men. The thing is when imagining these h2h head fights you have to take into account the era at which they fought.

    So if Lewis was the same size as Dempsey - five inches shorter and fifty-five pounds lighter - this wouldn't make things any easier for Dempsey?

    Corbett and Fitzsimmons were skilled for their era. Glove size and bout length play the determining role in how a boxer fights. With 4 oz gloves and 45 rd fights I don't think 240 lb Lewis would fare to well. If fights were 4 rds then Butterbean or Willie Meehan would be seen as the GOAT.
