Sure, it's a good win. Probably not as good as Brown's victory over Kenny Lane, certainly not as good ad Duran's victories over De Jesus and Buchanan.
I erred, probably from not reading the thread question thoroughly,...in naming Monzon...he cleaned out his division after becoming champ.
When Holmes beat Norton Ali had lost to Spinks four months earlier. My point stands. Irregardless Holmes had fought for the title and sure as sugar didn't clean out the division prior.
At what date were the RING top 10 men who Walcott recently beat or was going to beat soon? I mean, to say he beat "almost everyone" in the top 10 suggests he beat 8 or 9. I'm sure he beat a few but I'm surprised if he did that much. I may of course be completely wrong to doubt it.
When he got his title shot against Louis the top 10 was populated with Louis, himself, Ray, Murray, Baksi, Gomez and Maxim. He'd also beaten Bivins, Oma and Sheppard who lost their ranking shortly after he beat them. It is pretty impressive what he did.
How does Robinson's pre-title run at WW? Does the fact that he never faced Burley or Cocoa Kid make it hard to claim he cleaned out the division?
