Ward is fighting at 175 now dummy. GGG had his chance to fight Ward at 168 but ducked him like a ***** by saying 164 despite the fact he was willing to fight JCC Jr and Froch at 168. GGG is the biggest joke in the sport today. GGG has never once dared to be great and will be remembered accordingly.

my fave was the blatant mention by loeffler of 164 to duck...then sanchez saying months ago "we never said 164"...then sanchez saying a couple of weeks ago "wed fight ward at 168 but don't think he can make that now" ....you cant make this stuff up!

Ward went from 160- 175. Why can't Golovkin?

Why does GGG only want super fights against guys from lower divisions..

Ward sent an offer and GGGs team turned it down. Did they send a counter offer? Nope instead they ran their mouths about 164. GGGs team was all talk. If he really wanted to fight Ward he would of moved up to 168 and got in line. Kinda like how Lara runs his mouth but it isn't like GGG is ducking him because if he really wanted the fight Lara would move up and get in line right?

I don't consider it a duck though on GGGs part anyway as their not in the same division. Their not entitled to fight eachother and with both of their diva like antics I doubt it would get through negotiations anyway.

Ward is now fighting the monster Kovalev and beat his mandatory to get in line. Thats how it is done if a fighter is serious.

That fight isn't happening. It never was so I'm not sure why anyone would be upset at this news.

For Golovkin to have gone up to face Ward, he would have wanted a couple of easier money spinning fights to test the water against the likes of Froch and Chavez. This would have also given Ward a chance to shake off any ring rust and prove he could make 168 again. These fights could have then built a massive money spinning showdown between the two, if GGG proved to be a force at 168.

Ward fairly enough IMO decided his future lay at 175 and after a couple of acclimatising fights for good money due to his contract is taking on Kovalev. I don't think anyone is really to blame for that fight not happening but with people's opinion often being biased one way or the other, one of them usually gets blamed entirely.

First off, the only way to "duck" someone who is above your weight class is to hold a belt at that weight, call yourself the lineal champion of that weight, and then call them out and dis them in public before dropping the belt at their feat for free later. It takes a lot of work. Otherwise the option is always with the guy who is stepping up to do so or not. Like Floyd not fighting GGG at 154 for example. An understandable move and clearly not a duck.

At the time you are referring, Froch and Jr. were huge money fights for GGG where the inactive and unpopular Ward was not. I personally think it was a sign of respect to Ward for GGG not to think he could jump up in weight and fight him first thing without at least acclimating to the division. Jumping up in weight isn't easy. Doing it immediately against the top dog at that weight is a serious risk. Not to mention giving up your current belts. It's why I give Ward a lot of respect for fighting Kovalev and even he didn't fight him immediately. If you are going to take that kind of risk, all the rewards better be there. With Ward it was really just glory. No money and no belts. Any advising team worth their salt would recommend against that fight at that time.

Now if Ward beats Kovalev, and GGG keeps winning, I don't really believe Ward would have any issues or problems dropping back to 168 for another super fight. Despite what he is saying now.

Degale vs Ward is one of the most horrible elite match ups I can think of. It'd be an absolute mess.

DeGale called him out, he was the new number 1, Ward said he'd fight Golovkin on his return at 168 so why not DeGale?

    Bigger money fight too.
