interest will not wane for this fight in a years time...it will be the same next september as it is now...stop talking crazy.....those who are interested now will remain interested next year....stop acting like a worry wart "omg well now the fight is ruined no one is gonna care"...lol knocking out dom wade, having kell brooks trainer stop the fight even though brook seemed upset by it, and prob knocking out jorge heiland doesnt tickle my "buy bone" either sport
Speak for yourself, my hunch is that Red's gonna struggle and look like crap against someone before he gets to G.
jmashyaka, It's easy to say that from your perspective. Oscar has already stalled and messed GG around on two occasions. So why would GG and K2 accept a flat fee 12 months out, which would mean that Canelo would receive significantly more? I can understand the frustration, but K2 were never going to agree to that at that stage. Nobody knows if there would be a rematch. There's a world of difference between wanting a fair split for huge fight that would gross millions, and a fight against Jacobs, who is basically just a glorified number 1 contender. The splits are already prearranged for mandatory defences. Again, why accept $10m now, when he's already been messed around and they don't want the fight for another year? The offer was BS.
No, it's really not that simple. You've got to pretty naive to think that if GG had've accepted the CW, we'd have seen the fight by now.
Golovkin should get his IBF mandatory out of the way Tureno Johnson if this fight doesn't happen. If the Canelo fight does take place in Sept 2017, then Golovkin won't have any mandatories to deal with before then with the IBF so won't be stripped for not fighting them, and the IBF have a rehydration clause so Canelo won't be coming in at 235lbs on fight night like he normally does. Assuming Canelo would bother making the weight the next day.
Sergey Kovalev would not be fighting Andre next, if Andre hadn't have been willing. That's the difference.
But if he would have simply called Canelo's bluff and agreed no one could bash GGG if Canelo declined then it would be an outright duck on his part. GGG should have done that. Do what it takes to make a fight at this point in your career his he doesn't have that much longer in this game.
They're obviously still negotiating behind the scenes. We'll hear more about it within the next few weeks. But it looks as though Jacobs is holding things up.
yeah thats a great fight...ggg vs t johnson! i mean...he already took out t johnsons injury replacement in a barnburner the world was clamoring for.....it only makes sense to take care of johnson!
It was a BS offer from a group of people who have proven to be untrustworthy. How would it have altered the outcome of the negotiations with Jacobs?
