Makes perfect sense from your point of view. We view the sport differently though.

I'm more interested in seeing the best fight the best.

The best opponent right now for Wlad is Joshua, you might prefer the Browne fight, or find it least strange, but for me it makes more sense to fight the better opponent.

This isn't a discussion about me. AJ is the guy to beat and you know it. This is HW division. Everybody has a weak resume.

Its as as simple as this -Do you want to watch wLAD - AJ or Wlad - Browne.? Nobody wants to see the latter apart from you.

I don't think anyone would prefer the Browne fight. This fight wasn't going to happen without all the stars lining up and they rarely do. Sadly, for one reason or another the best rarely fight the best anymore. It has been that way for a long time now. Best we can hope for is a unification fight in the Spring or Summer.

Nobody wants to see AJ vs Molina either or whatever other bum they can find.

People on this site spend more time defending the actions of boxers rather than willing them to challenge themselves.

Wlad is a multi millionaire, he doesn't need anyone on this site to defend him.

But choosing Browne over Joshua is not a good move imo.

    1. I like "competitive" match ups as much as anyone. But I'm not going to whine about some 40-year-old has-been, who's been shafted all year by Fury's antics, taking an easy fight comeback to grab a belt.
Because I have a sense of perspective about this.

    2. The idea that beating Joshua is a "legacy enhancing" fight for Wladimir .... AT THIS STAGE IN JOSHUA'S CAREER ... is ridiculous. If Wlad was to beat AJ everyone would suddenly get wise to the FACT that AJ is still an unproven novice with ZERO wins over viable opponents .... thereby Wlad's credit would be greatly limited.

    3. Joshua has done nothing yet to put himself above the likes of Chagaev, Thompson, Pulev, Haye, or Peter among Wlad's opponents. Actually he's proven less, thus far. The likes of Byrd and Povetkin would have to be rated higher than AJ for sure, at this stage in AJ's career. Of course, AJ looks plenty good enough to be considered better than guys like Leapai and Pianeta and Mormeck.
Until he proves himself, it's wrong to suggest he's better level than the men of Wlad's reign.

I don't see what the benefit of beating Browne is or could ever be. He's already got plenty of Brownes on his ledger.

How you can't see how it'd be a legacy enhancing fight is amazing.

You can't see how Wlad's oft criticised CV would be improved by him taking on the most heavily hyped heavyweight fighter to come through the ranks in years on his home turf? A former gold medalist who he'd be favoured to lose against? Wow.

When was the last time Wlad was the underdog?

If lead was to blast through Joshua and expose him he would become like David price. No one would take him seriously anymore and would be dismissed as a hypejob

Thats why it wouldn't be legacy enhancing

Price became a joke because of who he lost to. He got iced by an old, never that great Thompson twice and then Erkhan ****ing Teper.

If Joshua got KO'd by Wlad everyone other than haters on the level of Dino would credit it to Wlad being great. And if he took a series of humbling losses afterwards then they would be attributed to Wlad 'ruining' Joshua.

I'd like to see the best fight the best too.
(Then again, many people here were complaining that they DID NOT want to see Fury-Wlad again, so that proves the opposite).

But in boxing, it's rare to see the best fight the best.
(There are plenty of other sports where it happens every year, every month, every week.)

    I'll point out :
You've elevated Joshua to being one of "the best" (and you actually called this potential fight with Wlad a "mismatch" in AJ's favour ...???) and yet Joshua has obviously attained such a high status with you WITHOUT fighting the best.
You've put him high up based on knocking over fringe types and nobodies... so, the way you seem to rate them, there's no real incentive for the "best" to fight the "best".

Hearn has just signed Ortiz, who surely deserves to be regarded as "the best" too.
Hearn can match Ortiz and Joshua.
    Let's see if that happens.

And ..... if he BEAT Joshua people would cringe at the odds (if indeed they make Wlad underdog).
They'd look at AJ's resume, and say, oh, another hype job that looked great against B or C-level opposition and was found out by a has-been with a bit of quality.

Explain to me how they couldn't say that. It's inevitable.

I've been following boxing too long not to see it.
AJ's record is weaker than several of Wlad's opponents.

The last time Wladmir Klitschko was the underdog was against Sam Peter the first time, back in 2005.
And nowadays people will probably only mention the fight to critcize Wlad for being floored 2 or 3 times on his way to winning a wide 12-round decision !
