I do think this could be a mistake by Frampton.... but hes rolling the dice...lets hope he doesn't pay the price
I Ironically as challenger he got a much more neutral venue. I doubt team frampton had much say in this one. Powerful forces decided this. On the plus side another win will cement him as a star in USA. But given his seeming inability to ko lsc, something I don't see him doing, his fate will be in the hands of vegas judges....and we've seen some awful decisions there in the past. A bit of a worry alright. In a neutral venue I would strongly favour Carl..less so in vegas.
Thank god the "week of national mourning" for that rugby guy is finally over. When you think how much greater an athlete Darren Sutherland was and how little was made of his death by suicide. A genuinely world class performer in a genuinely world wide far more competitive sport. Once again we irish show we have our priorities right eh.....
Rightly or wrongly suicide will never gain the same sympathy as someone drying of natural causes-especially when all too sudden and soon. Not really scenarios i wish to compare much. Both were tragic cases.
I'm touched, Marty. (Mind you lots of people have been saying I'm touched for years!) It was like the 'choreographed mourning' for a deceased Korean dictator. Grown men 'forcing' tears etc etc Cringeable stuff. Particularly nauseating was the way his 2 lads were sucked into the ritual of it - almost like a cult ritual - the cult of rugby. Don't get me wrong - I've been bereaved myself twice recently - one was a young friend by suicide, so Im not inhuman at all. We Irish have a fatal attraction to false gods - constantly putting the wrong people on pedestals. We never learn.
As if to bear out what Ive been saying - bang on cue tonight: Veteran RTE newsreader Eileen Dunne just called Zaur Antia - 'Zaur Anita' on the main evening 9 o 'clock news! Need I say any more...
Belfast promoter/manager Mark Dunlop has dismissed claims from Dubliner Deco Geraghty who asserted yesterday that James Tennyson and his team had turned down numerous fight offers before finally agreeing to an Irish title clash which will play out in December. Dunlop, who manages the Frank Warren-promoted Tennyson, contacted Irish-Boxing.com to give his team’s side of the story, arguing that no such offers were made and that it was in fact Tennyson who had pushed for the fight. The MHD Promotions chief stated that “we have never been offered a fight with Declan Geraghty before. despite his claims. “Last year, as you are aware, James Tennyson was fully focused on his mandatory challenge for the British Featherweight Title, and after struggling to make the weight he came up short against a good champion in Ryan Walsh.” “After this contest James was involved in a car accident that kept him out of the gym, and out of his scheduled return contest on my recent show at the Europa Hotel as he was not fully ready for his ring return.” Outlining how the fight came about, Dunlop described how “after watching Declan’s last performance [an 80-72 win over Johnson Tellez] and interview afterwards on IFL, James asked me if I could make a fight with him. I told him yes, but said he would need a warm up first as he had been out for so long.” “I then phoned Frank Warren, his promoter ,and asked for this fight to be made if possible. We are delighted that Declan and his team have accepted the challenge.” Dunlop also revealed that the fight, which is subject to both boxers coming through their November 5th contests on the Belfast Boxnation show, will not take place in Ireland. He explained that “while no contracts have been signed as of yet, we are in discussions and confident that this fight will go ahead in early December should James and Declan come through their next fights successfully without injury.” “While we are not a liberty to pass on the proposed time, date, or venue, we can confirm that this mega local derby will not take place in Ireland to James, Declan, and the local fight fans’s disappointment.” Dunlop also commented on Geraghty’s appraisal of Tennyson’s 16(13)-2(2) record, noting how “I am in agreement with Declan that James has suffered two stoppage losses to date, one being very early in his career and the other in a major title challenge, neither carry any shame as his achievements at this young age of 23 far outweigh his losses.” “While it is easy to digest someones record I take solace in their performances against mutual opponents.” “While my stable is small, it is select. It gives me the opportunity to treat them equally and get them in the best positions and opportunities I can. They are all certainly active.”

Why do you have to be a dick? What happened to Sutherland was tragic, and plenty of people were upset, but obviously a person who was FAR better known and who had achieved far more is going to get more attention. You can argue that Sutherland should have gotten more attention. That's fine. He didn't because boxing isn't as big a sport in Ireland as rugby and Sutherland wasn't a star in his sport like Foley was. But don't belittle someone like Foley. You just come across like a complete c**t. Not a troll, but an actual pathetic excuse for a human being.
You just made a complete fool of yourself. I'm sure theres a rugby forum somewhere...why not post there? But just in case some eejit out there believes your guff allow me to clarify: Rugby is a minority, somewhat elitist sport, played in Munster and a few fee-paying schools elsewhere in this ountry. Plus in about ten countries worldwide.Their 'World Cup' ('World' my a$$) include countries (if you could call them countries) like Samoa, that most of us couldnt find on a map. 80% + of the human race is excluded from playing rugby on grounds of size alone! The majority of participants are grotesquely deformed lumbering lummoxes with all the grace and athleticism of a drunken hippo. Boxing on the other hand is a truly global sport played worldwide, to a very high standard of skill and athleticism. Not only that it is a sport we Irish genuinely excel at.....and the list of things we can say that about aint too long, now, is it? Yet what gets all the publicity in Ireland....???? Yep -rugby. The Cult of Rugby. And make no mistake about it what we saw was classic cult behaviour. I found it distasteful. I wasnt 'belittleing' Foley - I was just complaining about how everyone else was 'bebigging' him!
Len,I must be one of the few from Limerick that didn't get carried away with the Munster bandwagon but Foley was a true sporting hero throughout Ireland and as we say in our great city "if you have nothing good to say about someone say F..k ALL."
