Take the version of Don Curry that challenged Mike McCallum for the LMW belt against the version of Julian Jackson that did the same.

Jackson has dynamite in his fists and could certainly end the fight with one punch, but would he land it against a prime motivated Don Curry?

Had DC squared himself during the action vs The Hawk like he did McCallum, he would have been out like a light.

That was to avoid the right hook to the body though.

He didn't fight him square on, he backed away in straight lines from a specific feint he fell for.

Curry would do very well early and he'd have the edge... then he'd get.

    Jackson KO 5.

You're right luf...but JJ could have accomplished the same thing to the body, or for that matter, wherever else he would land on Donald.

I agree with the consensus so far.

I think Curry would be caught at some point.

Chalk one up for Curry by stoppage.

I can't see Donald surviving this for long. With a good fight plan and a little luck he might outbox Julian for the first few rounds and rack up some points. But the first time he gets hit with anything big its basically going to be all over. I loved Donald Curry and felt that during the brief period when he was at his pinnacle was one of the most skilled fighters of all time. But his fragility limited his greatness and always would.

I agree with all of this.

His fragility limits him at the higher weights but he could take a WW punch.

Agree to some extent. But the only two real hitters he faced at welter were Lloyd Honeyghan and Milton McCrory. One of them battered him while the other was taken out early before he could do any real damage. I hate to say it, but if Marlon Starling had more snap to his shots he might have potentially beaten Curry too.

Hard to say with the Honeyghan fight because of the weight issue.

We can certainly say he struggled with the pressure of Lloyd.

Where do we draw the line though, how would Margarito have fared? Or Baldomir?

At 154, Curry wasn't the same sharp, confident assassin he was at 147. He wasn't as strong or durable, and his punches didn't carry the oomph they had before. If it was the same skillset and physical presence as the welter version it might be a different story, but he just wasn't the same at 154, Honeyghan or no. He wasn't great against Green or Baez either.

    Jackson KO 2 or 3.
