Ward will not know how to deal with Kovalev's varied straights and jabs

If you've watched Andre Ward fight you know he likes to be tricky. He likes to change levels and he likes to control his opponents head and push his head down.

That won't work against Kovalev. First, Kovalev has massive power in his jab and straight right. Ward hasn't seen that before. He now has to worry about 2 hands hurting him and not just 1 hand. Second, Kovalev throws reverse 1-2 combos and standard 1-2 combos. With power and Ward hasn't seen that before. Third, Kovalev has a great chopping downward straight which he will use when Ward tries to get inside.

Just because Ward hasn't seen something in the ring, doesn't mean he can't figure a way around it! One of the many strengths of Ward, ring IQ. I can't wait for this fight! Should be good. I do like both of these guys! Hope the winner has a clear cut, no BS victory!

There are lot of great things about Kovalev but punch variety is not one of them. If anything, his over reliance on the jab/straight could be his undoing against Ward.

Well I guess that's it decided then. No point in them fighting if you already know how it will go down.

I thought males were blessed with hairy balls, not crystal ones...

I think Ward will struggle more with Kovalev's mastery pf space and timing than his punch variety.

Kovalev may have a hard time too. The Chilemba fight wasn't terribly encouraging.

The only thing Ward can hope for is that his neck is long enough to try & head butt kovalev when his so called "Skills" run out & Virgil has run out of verbs from his philosophy pamphlet...Hey Kove is gonna get cha Wardy ...

How many fighters do you know who can drop you hard with a flat footed straight? Kovalev can go for a full rotation power shot or be less telegraphed and be sneaky. While still having power. He throws a 2-1 combo with excellent power. That is not a popular and basic thing to do.

You're starting to sound desperate to convince people that Kovalev will have easy time here dude.

Define desperation? People said Kovalev doesn't have a varied punch selection. That's just not true.

Take away Kovalev's jab and he is completely disarmed..

I see this fight going similar to Crawford Postol. The difference is this Eastern European can punch. But I think Ward will nullify Kovalev's jab and make him gun shy.

I don't think Sergey can use his brute force in this fight unless he wants to willing eat counter shots. It's a shame because Kovalev is more entertaining to watch than Ward.
