I'm not arguing. I disagreed with your post questioning whether they deserved to be in the same ring.

I just asked who they had beaten to merit it,seems a reasonable question to me, this Forum used to be a bit of fun, now its turned into hard work ,too hard for the reward.

He fought loads of people with worse resumes. He fought nearly 100 people .

I didn't realise questioning your premise was such hard work.

Given the nature of Kovalev and Johnson I'm sure they'd have fought each other if they shared an era.

Johnson would have embarrassed both of them

I'm a huge fan of Sergey Kovalev,...he's my favorite current fighter...not so much Ward...but I don't dislike him either..
but Harold Johnson...:campeon:...he's not only one of my favorite fighters, hell, he's one of the greatest...a master technician who is a joy for me to watch....and I think he beats both guys...with room to spare.

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Harold im guessing about 8 yrs ago.
He was still built like a bull then

Impressively built man, belying his actual style of a masterful technician,...from looks alone, no one could ever tell that he wasn't a slugger or something...even more impressive was his thoughtful, decent nature, from what I've read...he was like my man Floyd Patterson in terms of decency.

I can't picture either guy landing a clean punch on Johnson. They both telegraph what their doing and especially their right hands==and a guy like me can see it on a tv screen. Can you imagine what a Harold Johnson would see?

Man, talk about leaving openings for a counter. Harold sure didn't need much of a window for that did he?

The winner of Kovalev v Ward deserves to be in conversations against any LHW imo. especially if they then beat Stevenson for the lineal championship .

Ward is currently ranked no 5 at Lhvy by the Ring magazine ,why does he get to leap frog over higher ranked challengers? I would be more interested in a Kovalev v Stevenson fight for the undisputed title.

    Ward doesn't leap frog anything.

TBRB have Kovalev and Ward ranked 1 and 2 respectively behind the champion (Stevenson)

That's why I'd like to see the winner challenge Stevenson for the belt.

    TBRB? Who are they?
None of the 3 light heavyweights Ward has beaten are ranked ,how does he qualify to be number 2 ?

    Transnational Boxing Rankings Board.

There's a link to their rankings on the General Forum.

Never heard of them,I think I'll pass. Why didn't Ward fight someone ranked above him, someone who has beaten a ranked lightheavy ,how about Eleider Alvarez?

Do you remember Stone hands? The poster who always went on about lineal champions and how much he hated meaningless belts? He said he wanted to change boxing, this is his first step.

He is fighting someone ranked above him, Kovalev.
