Yes plentiful but that means absolutely nothing in terms of skill. Would it make a difference if there were 3 or 300 low quality fighters that made up a division? The division would still be low quality. Quantity does not change that. More dangerous is a perspective and we would have to analyze the super heavies of Joe Louis and Jack Dempsey's era. I don't think you want to do that right now. I will say that it is my opinion that Jess Willard at his best could take on any super heavy of today and would without a doubt hold a title.

 

We should expect prime Willard to be the lineal HW champ today, and nothing less.

 

I don't see him out pointing Fury.

Charles Martin was ranked in most top 10s for a few months based on almost nothing and a mediocre guy with a twisted ankle.
Antony Joshua makes plenty of top 5s based, I suppose, on beating Charles Martin.
The bar is so low it is laughable.
Wilder's ranked #2 by RING magazine.
Haye is ranked #9 , he had two tomato can set-ups this year and he hasn't been in with a real opponent for several years.

I don't think being under 200 pounds would matter much.
If you can put 15 wins together and get some publicity you can be ranked.

 

I think it's hard to say exactly how many of those smaller guys would make the cut now.
I'm guessing quite a few, based on what I've already stated in my previous posts.
Obviously the likes of Joe Louis and Jack Dempsey would do it without much problem. I'm sure we can find 20 or 30 heavyweights right now they could KO over the span of a couple of years, and only 1 or 2 of those would need to be in the fringe contender/decent journeyman category.

I'd reckon Archie Moore, Jerry Quarry, Max Schmeling, Jack Sharkey, Doug Jones, Billy Conn, Jersey Joe Walcott, Floyd Patterson, Ezzard Charles, Eddie Machen and numerous others would have managed it too, but for me it's certainly something that favours the "quick KO artists" among the smaller men, because going 10 rounds with far bigger men is likely to wear down the boxers among them.
