Back to boxing. Am I the only one who can't see Paddy Barnes being a successful pro? Competition in the pros...even at British level at fly, super fly and bantam is just too strong for Paddy. He won't cope. Anyone agree?
Its ok to be confident but you'd think he'd know better after Rio...... http://www.rte.ie/sport/boxing/2016/1030/828022-paddy-barnes-pro-debut/
Ok but he was totally confident before Rio too....and he flopped. It's all old news now but basically we were "conned" about Paddys real weight issues in the build up to the Olympic Games in a big way. I'm just not sure about his temprement and discipline after that. Read an interesting interview with Billy Walsh recently in which he said he had his USA boxers doing dry runs of the Rio weigh in format..early .morning weigh in and in the ring by 11am.....which is exactly Barnes should have been doing....but clearly wasn't.
Surprised other people havent commented on this story...... http://www.irish-boxing.com/15-year-old-irish-boxing-star-punched-russian-coach-germany/
I would have expected a flood of comments about something like this.....But he silence is deafening. Very strange.
I'm going to the Dublin show on Saturday , looking to buy a couple of tickets but would rather buy them off fighter than at door, anybody got any contacts for fighters sellers? Cheers.
sutcliff-jenkins good fight - but the home cooking is baaad here folks. A draw might have been ok or a win for jenkins,,,,
