Who wins, and how ? Vitali's chin was the best one. Joshua is a great puncher. Vitali couldn't out-jabbed Joshua....It could be 50/50 fight.

I like AJ, but geez, who has he beaten? Vitali likely beat ten better opponents or more... The best Aj fought coudl have been Whyte, and he rocked him.

AJ has size, speed and skills, but anyone familiar with his amateur career knows his chin is as suspect as he was stopped or floored a few times in a relatively short career. His gold medal was a farce as Savon beat him clean on points in round one of the games.

I hear his next fight is vs Molina. I hope not, not he'll be the next Wilder.

As to who wins, here, easy call.

Just compare and contrast AJ v.s Whyte and Vitali v.s Johnson. Both bloated big punchers. Only difference is Vitali "Harpooned the whale" where as Joshua struggled with his. I'm not hater of Joshua, in fact I think out of all the newer heavies on the scene his future will probably be the brightest. But threads like this are just stupid. Vitali would destroy any version of Joshua as it stands, let the kid carve his path a bit more before we start putting him in fantasy matchups like this.

This thread might be stupid, but you have to admit that there are lot of foolish threads, here, on this forum.
There are some facts we should think about. Firstly, Vitali has never been more than very decent puncher (let us say 8/10).
Joshua is surely 10/10. His weak competition has nothing to do with his power. Can you explain me the way of Vitali's victory. Jab as a basic weapon ? Against Joshua it couldn't be effective..........And, I have to add : I have a great respect for Vitali, and I am unbiased - EE and white, just like Vitali (nothing with racism)........

These threads do serve some purpose though, they help distinguish people who know something about boxing from those who don't. Anyone making a case for an AJ win (at this stage of his career) is also making a case they might need psychiatric help. Utterly ridiculous to see anything other than a Vitali win...

in 2003 Vitali had had 17 more fights than AJ currently has. That's a hell of a lot more experience 50/50 fight for me really could not pick as we still don't know how good or bad AJ really is.

OK, would you, please, explain Vitali's strategy against Joshua (two or three sentences, only). If you say that Vitali was more powerful than Joshua, I will not take this disccusion seriously.

2003 Vitali had free shots on Lewis's face round in /round out and couldn't do nothing to him.

That Vitali didn't have a clue what he was doing and wasn't able to beat a truly terrible version of Lewis.
There wasn't a fragment of skill on display in the ring that night from either men. Its obvious to anybody who understands the sport and knows what they are looking at.
Its a pity Wlad bottled his career ending beating at the hands of Joshua , because if he didn't this thread would look a whole lot different.

Who has Joshua faced to prove his punching power is a 10/10? I agree, as far as the eye test is concerned he's a heavy hitter. But Vitali earlier on in his career definitely had some pop. As evidenced by his early knockouts against Hide and Johnson. Not the biggest puncher, but he had better than average power and a tendency to wear guys down and stop them with volume if he wasn't able to KO them outright. Joshua hasn't shown the greatest chin in the amateurs or the pros, Vitali certainly had the power to hurt him. There's absolutely zero reason to favor Joshua over a 2003 version of Vitali or to suggest he would even have a decent chance. That's just sheer stupidity.

If Wlad beat this version of Joshua, how much credit would you give him?

I told the same about Vit's power (8/10). Joshua has lethal power, obviously. I am sure you have been watched fight against Whyte, check once again, please. AJ almost killed Whyte. I don't favor Joshua, but I think he would be very tough opponent for every HW active in the 21 century (except Lewis).
