But remembered and revered as he is today 61 years after he retired. Rocky had one other major plus going for him, can you guess what it was?

No. Marciano was probably the best 2 handed hitter overall since his time imo

Marciano was definitely one of the most damaging punchers.
He really busted his opponents up.

He ruined them and he did it because he gave them prolonged and systematic beatings . In contrast Tyson took a lot of guys out quick, before they had shipped much punishment.

Yeah, Tyson was more accurate, Marciano more damaging.

No , not really, he inflicted more damage simply because he did it over a longer period, that does not make him a more damaging puncher per se.

To the opponent sustaining the damage that's really no consolation.

It's like saying Ali was "a cutting puncher" only because he could land two, three, four accurate jabs on an eyebrow or cheekbone in half as many seconds.

That doesn't make sense, I could hit someone with a feather all day long and yet I would cause no damage whatsoever....

That is taking the comparison to absurd lengths, nobody is suggesting Marciano was not a damaging ,heavy hitter what I am saying is, it is because he beat men up over several rounds that they ended up more damaged, having sustained more punishment than they would have done had they been taken out quickly with a couple of punches as Tyson often did. Who sustained the most damage versus Tyson, Razor Ruddock or Carl Wiliams?

Ask yourself what would you prefer ?A quick combo that knocks you out early, or a relentless beating over 7,8 rounds that may leave you permanently diminished as Layne ,C*ckell,Lastarza, Charles were after Marciano had finished beating them up for extended periods.
I hope you haven't got your contrary hat on again today?

Out of all the fighters that went 12 rounds with Tyson I can only think of Ruddock that suffered lasting damage. What happened with Tillis, Green, Smith, Tucker????

There's other fighters that went past 6 rounds with Tyson that suffered little damage if any, is that a knock on Tyson's punching power?

No one is knocking anyone's punching power. If I wanted to knock Marciano's I could ask why a light heavyweight journeyman twice went the distance with him without being floored?

This isn't about comparing power it's about responding to a comment and explaining why Marciano inflicted more damage on his opponents than Tyson did.
Smith, Tucker, and Green did not try to win, they fought purely to survive. Ruddock was trying to win and suffered accordingly.

Take that hat off, it's too early in the day for this!!

You can't have seen the Tillis and Green bouts as they both fought gallantly and hard, both tried their best to win.
