    1. While stronger than it is right now, The HW division was not at it's deepest and most talented then, far from it

    2. While Ruiz was an impressive KO, Moorer was over the hill, he was getting outclassed by Rahman till he cheated and hit him after the bell and got a premature stoppage in the next round. Maskeav was an 11 fight novice and he too was schooling Tua before he gassed and got stopped in the late rounds

    3. If he were aroundd with Wlad and Fury currently out of the picture, he way well be the man at HW, but he has nothing more than a punchers chance against ANY of the ATG HW's in fact against some he doesn't even have that IMO.

You'll have to show me two better decades of heavyweight boxing. The 1990's were very deep and talented. I strongly disagree if you think the 1990's was an average time, and like I said Tua only got one shot. He could have beaten Bowe, Holy, McCall...they did not pick him.

Moorer was 34 for Tua, not that over the hill and still won his share fights without getting stopped post-Tua. But a 1st round KO over a name like that is always impressive.

The division is terrible right now, with many unknowns at the top who won't fight each other or ever top ten opponents. Povetkin, Parker, and Ortiz should fight Wilder and Joshua, but it won't happen. Maybe Wlad at age 41 will fight Joshua. We'll see.

Are you seriously telling me the HW division in the 90s was stronger than the Ali, Frazier Foreman Era?? I hope not.

I'm not saying it's a worthless KO/win but Moorer was clearly a fair bit from his prime Tua might still have beaten him even if he was prime, as I personally was never that big on Moorer.

I'd give him a chance against as he like Tua was really just a contender (althiough unlike Tua he DID win a world title) as for Holyfield and Bowe; they both beat Tua comfortably unless he catches them on a VERY bad night because Tua isn't KO'ing them because they have good chins and he has ZERO chance of outboxing them as Tua was deeply lacking in boxing skills.

Im not sure with so many belts and other belts being better? You even have to put ike over him with his win. I think some guys now beat him, some 90's,80's. Not sure if hes a top 5.

Ike/Ruddock /Mercer/ Tucker/Douglas/Golota/ off hand all potentially beat him.Im sure im missing some. and Ortiz over him too who currently is not a title holder.

Yes the 90's were much more equipped with bigger and more dangerous guys than the 70's.

Tua would struggle I think with a big south paw. He has better skills, tua liked to out muscle his opponents,Ortiz is both a power puncher/slick fighter and a lengthy fighter at 6'4,Tua doesn't have a good track record against tall guys.I think all combined make a dangerous fight for Tua,add in all the experience of Ortiz .

I can certainly concur that Ortiz has looked dangerous as hell from what I've seen of him. But he's also 37 years old and hasn't genuinely been tested yet. He might very well have beaten Tua, but I think I'll wait a bit before making that judgement certain.

The only guy im testing him against though is tua who was 5'10 tall and a short hook puncher while pressing forward. Most didn't have the girth to keep him off,Ortiz would. If Ortiz wins more fights it doesn't mean anything in matching him against tua if we take them as is now at what we see.

That may be true. But has Ortiz ever been tested by a young bull in his prime with Tua's chin, power and persistence ? That's not to say Ortiz couldn't win. But I'm not 100% sold on the guy just yet. About the only thing about Ortiz that I'm convinced of is his incredible power. For all we know he might hit as hard as anybody who's ever lived.

I don't think either knocks each other out ,I think Ortiz out points him like ike did, though Tua wasn't in shape in that fight, but Ortiz has fluid movement and speed,Ike didn't have that he was slow and stiff a stronger Bruno really. I don't know about Ortiz power, its there , it think Joshua hits harder.I see a few flaws in Ortiz, but not one Tua style would benefit.

Ortiz is too slow to beat Tua imo.I don't see this speed you refer to.
    Tua stopped:
    Ruiz 6.2"
    Nicholson 6'4"
    Sullivan 6'3"
    Izon 6'3"
    Oquendo 6'2"
    Maskaev 6'3"
    Moorer 6'2"
Apart from Lewis , Barratt, when he was 39, and Ustinov when he was nearly 42 .Which tall guys beat him? Golota would sh*t his trunks if he was in there with Tua.

Moorer was past his best and was in no way a HW known for his chin,he fought at 220 or so ,Ortiz is 240 pounds and taller. moorer would be Tuas best win really. Ortiz has decent speed ,watch his training clips, what he does best is timing his shots,Tua fought in a squared stance favoring the left hook which wouldn't really effect his south paw stance that he also switches up hitting from weird angles. I have to favor Ortiz based of footage. Golota wopuld be a good fight, the tall guys you named were some of the better fighters he fought,Lewis and Ike being the best.

Only one man has gone the distance with Ortiz. It happened in his third fight that went 8 rounds. The other two were disqualified for low blows. Everyone else has been stopped. Kong can hit. He's also skilled for a big man with a 343-19 amateur record, however, he never medaled in a major world event ( Olympics or World Amateur Championships )

On the downside, he has had failed a drug test as a pro.

In 2005, he in the world amateur champions in the quarter-finals via referee stopped the context to someone named Povernov, but that was a long time ago and I think his chin is pretty good as a pro.

Right now, I'd have a tough time making him an underdog vs anyone.

I'd probably pick Ortiz to UD Tua.
