When in Furys hearing?

I thought it was today.
Doubt Tyson Fury will turn up. Peter and Hughie might.

 

Was planned for today as far as I know.
Not likely they let it get postponed again.

 

It's really gone under the radar press wise.

Far be it from me to suggest the depression angle was intended for that to be the case

 

The press have already branded him a drugs cheat, that story's been done. They will report it again AFTER the hearing, no doubt - as long as the hearing finds him guilty.
Since then they've also had the "cocaine binge" story.

Fury pulled out of a multi-million payday, so whether the depression thing is a lie or not, I doubt it has much to do with the PEDs issue. Athletes get caught taking PEDs all the time, it's nothing to go throwing money away over.
In fact, if Fury knew a ban for drugs was coming it would make more sense to go through with the fight and get the payday first. That's the rational course of action.

I think Fury's depression is largely true, he's always been a sufferer of depression. No one questioned it 5 years ago. If there's an "angle" to it now it is as an excuse to walk away from the sport, an excuse possibly more intended towards his uncle and father who seem to live their ambitions through him.
But that's just speculation

 

Who cares - not many want the Cnut back. The heavyweight division has started to open up with the belts flying about.we don't need he likes of fury who fights once a year at best clogging up the division

 

Most of the stuff I saw was about the coke, nothing to do with these potential charges. Certainly most casual fans I know only seem to know about the coke stuff and not this other hearing.

The sanctioning bodies asked for medical evidence of his depression. Instead of providing that he just vacated the belts completely (at least that's how I understand it, do correct me if I'm wrong here).

Either way, if he's found guilty (which honestly I suspect he will be) then he can go **** himself. If not, then I'll be posting relevant apologies...

 

The steroids thing was plastered all over the back page of tabloids.
Not sure of it merits front page.

It's not hard to get "medical evidence" for depression. Whether he's depressed or not. So, if he didn't bother to provide some that just shows he's not that interested. Keeping the belts for much longer would have been an uphill battle anyway.

What I'm saying is, if this was all a "ploy" to obscure being a "drugs cheat" it's the most amateurish and unfruitful way of going about things, extremely expensive, eand completely over-the-top. It's the biggest fail ever. It's completely irrational, unproductive and cost him millions of pounds - money that UKAD and the BBBC et al. were willing for him to take home !

Top athletes serve drugs bans for nandrolone, and there are dozens of blueprints to minimize the bans, especially first offences.
Fury and his camp might be a little green and amateurish perhaps, but I can't see anyone even remotely involved in professional sports making such a "plan".

 

Ironic, isn't it? Everyone said "the division has started to open up" when Fury dethroned Klitschko.

 

Yes, that totally fell flat.

 

Well, just my take, but I think the depression thing was engineered to try and get some sort of sympathy from the public and thus gloss over the (possible) other drug ban. So then the rhetoric would become "well he was in a bad place so n wonder" etc etc. And to some degree, there is a great amount of sympathy for what he is potentially going through. I just don't personally buy it. He's made enough money for now and can have a career later in life either boxing again or doing anything boxing related (he'd probably be an entertaining pundit).

To me the, the plan was always to get to the top and duck out as quickly as possible so that you can never be disputed as a fighter.

It's cynical but just how I see it.

 

It's possible, certainly.

I lean towards the idea that he's lazy and has achieved what he always set out to do, and feels deflated because he's unpopular.
I think he probably wanted to retire several months ago and the real thing stopping him has always been the expectations of his family.
And he's prone to depression, always has been.

Getting accused or caught doing PEDs was possibly the straw that broke the camel's back.

Fury's battles with depression have been well documented over the years, long before people were suggesting he was using it as a smoke screen.
