George would have stopped both. Perhaps not clean KO's, but beaten them up to the point where the ref would intervene. Walking into the wheelhouse of a prime Foreman is suicide, plain and simple. The only one I could see effectively doing so is prime Tyson, due to his speed in closing the distance and head movement. But neither Tua nor Ike was especially quick, and both were relatively easy to find.
I would agree with Dundee that the smarter older Foreman was better . Isaw a quote else where that he stated the older Foreman was a better fighter . I think if Lyle can hang with Foreman both Tua and Ike could . I would pick Ike to k.o him and Tua is 50/50 for me if its 1970's Foreman . .
70's Foreman against 90's Ike? Damn that would be brutal. Ike had big power, ridiculous engine/workrate and a chin of granite.
Foremans class should prevail (think of those pinpoint uppercuts that decked Norton) but raw George was just that bit wild enough and gung ho enough to turn things as a young man into the Ron Lyle slugfest. I'm not sure why Ike Ibeabuchi is still remembered. He had just two fights at any kind of level.
It's ridiculous, isn't it? Goes 12 with Tua (which Izon, Maskaev and Rahman were doing at the same time) and sparks Chris Byrd, a former middleweight Olympian, and he is some kind of mythical Iron Sonny Foreman.
Pre Ali Foreman would take them both. Post Ali Foreman, hmmmmmmm. He may well keep Tua at arms length with his power (and threat of it) and pushing. Hard to say. For the record the second incarnation of Foreman was NOT the better fighter, Jesus on a stick. Post Ali they fukked with his style and it just didn't work. There was probably only one fighter on the planet who could have dealt with him as he was and he, Ali, did. The original Foreman is not losing to Briggs or Morrison and nor is ne letting Moorer last so long and win so many rounds. Moorer would have been blown out. Don't get me wrong, it's impressive George could still make himself as effective as he was at that age.
If he had to fight both, the most likely outcome is that he'd go 1-1. Beating two good fighters in a row is much less likely than one alone.
Possibly because as Brixton Bomber said. "Ike had big power, ridiculous engine/workrate and a chin of granite."
People saying Tua is tailor made for Foreman. True, but Tua has a better chance in this one than Ike. It is absolutely mind boggling how overrated Ike is. LOSES to Tua in the mind's of MOST, yet people argue that he could have beaten prime Tyson and Foreman. It's comical, really. 74 George would have beaten the ever living **** outta Ike.
