Tucker was overrated, Tillis gave Tyson a much harder fight in every department. I'd fancy the Tillis that fought Tyson to beat the Mike that lost to Douglas.

That's a huge call. Tho over a short time span Tyson had a whopping 7 fights between Tills and Berbick, a lot of development at that stage.

I'd back Tokyo Tyson to beat Tillis with less trouble than he did when they met. I don't think anyone other than Douglas or maybe Holyfield would have beaten Tyson even in Tokyo.

nobody missed Rooney when Tyson blasted out Williams.

Tyson had worse prep for other fights with Rooney. Tyson says he had an STD for the Tucker fight.

In what aspects did Tyson improve from the fighter that fought Tillis to the time he faced Douglas?

He faced higher level competition, and plenty of it. Hands down he learnt plenty from these fights. He also grew in stature and confidence which not only helped Tyson but also put off a few opponents. .

I was at that Tillis fight. Mike was very very lucky he wasn't fighting any sort of hitter that night. Tillis was one of the lightest punchers in the division & some snap on his punches would have helped his career a ton.

The Tillis fight was probably one of Tyson's best.
It was certainly one of Tillis's best.

I disagree about Tillis being a light hitter, he could bang abit with that left hand of his. You could see those body shots were hurting Tyson and having an effect on him, the fight would have been very interesting had it gone on for two more rounds.

Tillis was probably a better puncher than Tubbs and a few others.
