Your post is very harsh, but there's probably some truth in it. He's tough as old boots is Martin, but when he hangs his gloves up, he'll probably regret not letting his hands go a bit more. Still not over for him though. There's a couple more big fights left in him.
Exactly my thoughts. I was certain he'd be able to beat Abrham after Smith gave him trouble but he just seemed to not want it enough. I also don't undertand how some his size can be a comparative non puncher. Probably a good idea he's not facing AA this time around build up to a name again and see if he can get another title shot - maybe go the Euro belt he's had some hard fights and his time may be up
I was actually looking forward to Murray vs Chudinov a bit tbh And I fully agree that he will regret not letting his hands go. It only seem's to happen when he steps up to that world level which is not really surprising. He probably just doesn't fully back himself and trust his chin enough. I think he gets a bit too defensively minded, which is fair enough in the earlier rounds because he's a bit of a slow burner and starts coming on in the later rounds. Maybe he just takes too much punishment in the early rounds and is just content to not get hurt too much and stays in his shell. I have a feeling if he poured the pressure on Groves late he might have won that one as well. Groves looked extremely fatigued at times. Murray could have got stopped himself if he tried it, but sitting back was never going to win him the fight any way. I am also unsure of why Murray is a non puncher for his size, it is a bit of a mystery to me. Some say you are born with it but that's not always true either. CEJ is an example of someone developing power as he progressed. He was perceived to be a non puncher and still is by some, but as he has progressed he seems to be hitting harder against better opposition. I think being a late starter has something to do with it, his technique is improving and he's becoming a better athlete as well.
Murrays lack of pop is easily explained. Its far more of a mystery how CEJ is a non-puncher to be honest.
Not sure how you can call a boxer who put an opponent in a coma and made another fighter quit a "non puncher". He's a concussive puncher who perhaps lacks one punch KO ability. He also wears gloves not conducive to power punching.
Eubank Jn is a brutal fighter. He actually enjoys hurting his opponent. However, I would argue that he probably gets more opportunity (the fight goes on longer than it should) to inflict heavy punishment because he gets caught so many times himself. Against Chudinov, Spike and Blackwell, even though he was smashing them everywhere, he was still on occasion getting hit hard and a referee might let it go on longer than it should. Spike wobbled him, Chudinov hit him with a few hard left hooks and Blackwell hurt him too. I think Murray would give him a good fight. He's so cagey, he doesn't commit to a brawl that Eubank enjoys. He'd make him work hard for any decent exchanges but if I'm honest, I think Eubank would win it on points.
J Oh come on! A "concussive puncher" .....no way! ...and there's no " perhaps" about it ...he DOES lack one punch KO ability. It can't be a fluke if it keeps happening.
I'm talking about when Eubank was stupidly gesturing to Blackwell's mates, BJS & Fury in the crowd and not even looking at Blackwell whom then connects with him hard & he wobbles a bit. That fight went on for far too long because Blackwell was still landing on Eubank throughout that slugfest.
Gets some opportunities Murray, what is his best win? seems to be stuck on a cycle of beating a few overmatched opponents then losing at world level rinse and repeat.
