I like it! If Tommy lands a good left hook, James WILL go down and stay down. Again, Toney might make him look like a fool and hurt him himself.
I think Toney would find a way to victory. Tommy is never going to outbox him and he never KO'd a fighter near as good as Toney. In fact, I would not be surprised by a late round stoppage.
I cant see Toney winning against one of the hardest punchers ever . Toney could catch Morrison with counter shots and flash knock downs but he wasnt a Mercer heavy handed guy nor a 6'5 SHW ,he was 5'9 and a blown up fat HW when he fought there.
Toneys chin and defense nullifies Morrisons greatest asset, his power. I see Toney putting on a boxing lesson. Morrison might have his moments.
For all his alleged power, Morrison never really applied it to a decent boxer. He never finished a ranked heavyweight. Toney was a top-5 heavyweight for 4 years.
Foreman was ranked and knocked out Moorer the next fight . Toney would not be near a top HW had he fougt actual prime ones when he fought . You cant really rate Toney as a HW ,Peter made him look better as did Holyfield than he was . Morrison was always a threat and stopping even out of prime Ruddock you see that . I just cant see over blown Toney winning here .
Are you claiming that the Ruddock that Morrison beat was "prime" or am I reading this wrong? Edit. OK, I understand what you are saying "an out of prime Ruddock"... Again, he faced elites in Mercer and Lewis and was stopped. His management kept him from anything more stern than that. He ran from a stationary Foreman and barely won that fight, gasping throughout the latter rounds. He would not be able to run from Toney. That strategy would simply fail against any other elite heavy than Foreman. So, for all the talk of his power, there is no evidence of it being applied against elite level heavies. Toney applied his excellent skills (and even his power) against Holy, Ruiz and Peter... and even Rahman. I'm going with the guy who proved he could enforce his style of fight against elite competitors.
Ruddock is clearly out of prime but he was very aggressive and never short of power ,he did not fight like this since Tyson , i dont see what 5'9 Toney really brings the more i think about it.
I think you have to ask yourself if there's not a knock out who would win? If you think Toney then obvious Morrison would have to knock him out, no easy task. If it's Morrison than vice versa. tough call. I think Toney's chin is better and l think he probably wins a decision.
