I think that's more down to their promoters and TV deals as opposed to a trainer. Stephen Smith didn't do anything to deserve a world title crack again. Don't even start me on Paul Smith...
This content is protected Remember joe on a boxnation interview saying liam smith would fight mayweather after he beats canelo, basically he just talks bs.
Well I would say that it is probably poking fun at Joes level as a trainer, and his level of intelligence etc - as in there are guys stacking shelves in Tesco as good/smart as Joe.
Yes we havnt had a definate answer yet although len has offered up what he thinks tesco is a reference to and its quite feasable hes correct but it could also be as simple or silly as he was photod at some event or other and he had a tesco carrier bag, just like back in the day when people got the micky taken for having a netto carrier bag, like len.
I just did a little research and some people believe at the beginning of his training career he also worked in Tesco to boost his earnings while he made his way in the game. Others say it isn't true and just something added to his wiki page by a troll... Whichever is true, he will always be Tesco Joe to me now
As a trainer he seems to try and take credit for all of his fighters successes without wishing to take any of the blame when they do eventually fail. If you were to just listen to Joe talk you'd think that all of his guys were absolute no hopers who via his brilliant guidance alone hugely overachieved. To the rest of us, it looks like he's a solid trainer who is more importantly the go to guy for Eddie Hearn.
Nobody has been able to give the name of a British trainer who has lost 5 world title fights in 8 and a half months. Has anyone on planet earth or has Tesco Joe claimed an actual genuine world title?
