No boxing gym should have wooden floors by the heavy bags, as you are aiming to hit the bag at about 60%

If you were to jab properly, then turn your hips and thus pivot your back foot (part of generating power) you would not want to be close to a potentially slippery wood floor, because you could slide and pull your groin. C'mon guys.

lol...good luck with this kid heres the basic reason this kid through a temper tantrum ,he just wanted someone to say he hit with massive power he said he had , here is the advice i gave him ,which is TRUE !

"you have to commit to driving through the bag,you are not putting 100% into the power punch, use more lats and envision breaking stuff, you are using a lot of hand slapping with minimal shoulder drive. The whole vid itself is only seen half of what you are hitting "

"you could develop on your southpaw stance and do damage with the straight left, but the bag is not that hard to move and you offer no direct impact force as seen on vid.The bag/boxing gloves look poor and you need a heavier down weighted bag you are hitting a highly hung sub par bag that looks already like its been mugged."

He even claimed he had 50 pounds weights on top of the bag ,but I guess that's to hit him on his head crack his skull or break his foot when they fall off, makes perfect sense he also claimed not to mention GGG which was mentioned in his supposssed mod deleted thread who he stated he hits like which makes him also very delusional...lol

And then the other gem of a poster, one who states NO ONE not family/friends/fighters/coaches /staff memebers..etc...etc....can record him doing anything in the gym???

what are your thoughts on that along with only REAL gyms have gang affiliated members in it???what gym has gang memebers in it more than trained fighters who compete??because that's some B.s if i ever heard some ?

Also Im not a pro boxer I have fought pros though and had pretty good sparring sessions back in the day with some top notch guys and champions crusier/heavyweight. I had a brief amateur fighting experience.

Breh I will tell you my philosophy on this section. I'm a basement boxer, I posted some videos in 2009 and got ridiculed relentlessly (part of the game), because I was all out of wack. So I've taken the time since then, to study (with some tutelage) the fundamentals of boxing. 7 years later I'd like to think I could kick a normal dude's ass, and at least last a while with a trained dude. I've spent a few months at a quite famous professional MMA fighters gym (Ben R), and depending on the coach, they had no problem taping you on a gopro/smart phone what have you. The big dude wasn't too keen on it, but he wasn't there too often.

All the being said I haven't seen any of these guys video's so I can't really critique. The advice I would give, to a prospective power puncher is, 100% lock down your technique before anything else. If you do not have the ability to stay balanced throwing a 75% right cross, how are you going to be able to quickly reset (your feet and hips) to pivot into the crushing left hook after it.

So, I'd say start by establishing your jab, in varieties from pity pat to up jab to power jab. Once you have that down focus on the right cross, if your head does not naturally slip while you're throwing your cross, you're throwing an arm punch. To get around that, you need your plant foot pointed at the target, and as you retract your jab---straighten out your lead foot and whip your left hip forward, like you're closing a door. This will cause your legs to move, which in turn means you need to pivot your back foot a la stepping out a cigarette. Finally let your upper body follow, making sure to get at least 1/3rd of your body weight over your front leg (this causes the natural slipping motion of your head), and aim your fist through the target........I wish I could post .gif's in here that would basically show the step by step process, but that is what I have picked up on over the years.

All this I hit so hard I break bags etc. doesn't mean much. If you have a 200lb bag hanging from 12 feet of chain, it's going to bounce around, no matter how hard/how soft you hit it. I've always enjoyed watching videos of myself box, because you can really point out your flaws, be it 25 seconds of footage or 25 minutes.

Good post , agreed with about everything ,particularly the 12 feet of hanging bag bc he also thinks a high hung bag is heavier ?lol Ive walked out of gyms with giant bags that were hung literally 20 feet from the ceiling in MMA gyms .

Well this kid deleted his vid which all i can say you would have alot of material on from the Bag itself to the floor to skills it was all there and you would see why stating at 160 pounds he hits like a HW is wacky ,it was literally a bizarre video for me to watch .

This is exactly what I want. Discussion with substance. Which is literally impossible now because this guy will never stop harassing me. He was beefing with me for no reason even before I posted footage.

I would like to post more footage and get good advice but it's not worth it anymore.

Maybe it's not the best, but who knows the coaches reasons for it. Honestly it was only a problem until I got boxing shoes. Now traction isn't an issue. But yeah, a concrete floor would be cool too. There was this bogus gym I used to go to that did have a concrete floor. This gym has a highly credible trainer, legit boxers, yet wooden floors. So it goes...

Also when you say pivot your back foot with the jab, that's it you're standing still right? That's what I usually do when not moving my feet and just squaring up. I usually step in with the jab from my back foot going forward.

If I'm turning towards my lead hand, I'm keeping my front foot planted while moving my back foot and jabbing off it.

Breh what are you looking for advice on? Why'd you take your video down? Pop it back up or send it to me and I got you. In the meantime, while you box wear shorts or workout pants with a string coming out of the waist band. Every time you throw a power punch you'll want your string to be pointing at the target before during and immediately after contact. For an orthodox fighter during a right cross that's pretty easy, but if you're working the bag make sure to do this for your left hook it's extremely important that you get your hips turned into every left hook, check left hook clean up left hook lead left hook whatever. Anyway if you want I'd be more than happy to take a look at your work holla.

Looks at Mikkel Kessler here, this is a perfect right hand. Look where his front foot his pointing, then what his back foot/leg and hip are doing, and finally what his arm is extending through this is a powerful right hand to emulate.

To give you an example of a non powerful bad right hand, here was one of my not so fine moments

And here after some practice, and good instruction

Notice the head slipping. Naturally in the 2nd gif compared to the robotic first one.

But you were talkin mad **** before you gave an assessment.
You can't just walk up to someone, slap them in the face, and then give them boxing advice.

Otherwise I would've appreciated you giving feedback.
