From the reaction so far most people seem to think this is a close one.. I think it's a good 50/50 fight and Believe if Ronnie is at his best he can take this title. At the end of the day he gets to do what he loves he's doing and finally getting the platform to shine.. #AndTheNew

totally agree mate, I've been hearing lots of people say that ronnie doesn't deserve his shot but ronnie has paid his dues by taking on challenges like maxi hughes, ryan walsh, craig evans away and also the fight with cacace. he has shown no fear in boxing anyone and imo that makes him worthy of this fight.

i bet mick roberts and his dad will be tearing their hair out with this news :crybaby2::crybaby2: you can hear them now, how does this kickboxer get a chance before us :lol:

Obviously I wish Ronnie all the best but MJW is a step up from anyone Ronnie has boxed

Being a Scotsman I hope Ronnie wins but I was seriously impressed last time I seen MJW fight he looked much improved compared to previous performances and if i am being honest I think he is far better than Ronnie and will win and will win well from his view point. As i say hope I am wrong though.

Yes they won't be happy for him. This is when all the Scottish fans should come together. Support your own. That's the thing with Ronnie he wants to fight the best. If he wins he will fight Maxi and Cacacae. He is a true fighter politics are for politicians..

He is 17-3-2 with 10 KO's. Although it shows 3 defeats as a fighter he has only actually been defeated by Cacacae and that stoppage only happened because he got caught going for the stoppage himself.. The Troy fight he would of got the decision in Scotland and lost that fight because Tommy lost the purse bids. He beat Evans that wasn't even close. Walsh and Hughes fights were close wins. People look at boxrec records but that doesn't tell the full story. As a family we believe that for everything there's a reason. Ronnie maybe was not ready before he is now and will give this everything. If anything this fight will be fun

I wasn't massively impressed with ward before the townend fight. But he looked really good that night. Tough fight for ronnie but wish him all the best. If Ronnie wins these forums will go crazy lol.

This is great news for Ronnie, I know he will fancy his chances against Martin J Ward and if he sticks to his game plan then I don't see why he couldn't get the victory. He trains very hard, lives the life and imo we haven't seen the best of him in the ring.

Bets of luck mate and bring that belt back to Dundee

I've had Martin sparring in my gym and I'd say this is Ronnie's hardest fight of his career, good fight all the same

I have to disagree mate, I spoke to Michael's dad at the novice championships a few weeks ago and they have their own plan on what is best for Michael's career. In boxing you really need someone looking after you, there are far too many boxers that get manipulated and if big Mick can make sure that doesn't happen to his son then I am totally on his side. Hopefully the right fight comes up for Michael and he can do his talking in the ring.

I'd echo Maley I did think Ward was looking below expectations prior to Townend but he was really impressive that night, it may be a case of Townend suiting him or it may finally have clicked. I saw Ronnie being called out on twitter the other day in poor fashion, quite clear now why he didn't bite

I reckon it was more a case of townend giving ward room to shine more than what some would like us believe. Its well known townend dont like boxers snd can sometimes go to pieces in this situation. But ward can only deal with whats in front so he did well.

Is the ronnie fight a voluntary british defence for martin
