Shame a fight of this magnitude shouldnt be paying that amount to both fighters (in comparison to other fights of this size)

Yes he deserves credit for moving up in weight and taking on the best in the division. However there is no excuse for the low tier opponents he has selected in his 4-5 fights.

Not to mention messing other fighters around during negotiations, namely GGG and Froch by presenting unreasonable and unrealistic demands. Those are the actions of someone inspired by the methods of Mayweather.

so you are admitting you were wrong when saying he is just obsessed with maintaining his undefeated record? Every fighter is out get the best deal he thinks they can (or their promoter more likely) if you dont believe that then you are in denial

Ward doesnt negotiate the deals for himself he is not self promoted like Floyd

I do not have any proof, however if we use our minds sensibly we can deduce that Frank Ward use to box himself. Now upon meeting his partner who he was to have a child with; a known crack addict, suddenly he himself becomes a hardcore addict.

Tet still defiantely admist the clutches of a gripping drug, he does his utmost to seek recovery while bringing up his son the best way he knows how as a single parent. Meanwhile we do not know where and what his mother was doing while Frank battled alone to bring up his boy and fight his demons.

Yes for a PPV fight I can see why his style would be a problem for paying customers. Nobody wants to see a guy fight like that on PPV. Regardless I don't think it will work on Kovalev anyway. Ward WILL try to spoil this fight make no mistake about it.

No I am highlighting that his carefully picked weak opponents are evidence of this obsession to preserve his record. Of course Ward is a smart man, for he understands the great Lincolns memorable epigram; in that you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Questions were undoubtedly beginning to be asked of his intentions and the pressure to face a credible opponent became ever so more high to the point where Ward's back was placed firmly against a solid brick wall. Alas, he was left with little choice but to face a man of Kovalev's calibre if he still held to his intentions to emulating Mayweather.

Course he will its part of his skill set, a way of winning by any method, he knows he is a better inside fighter (or at least i do) than Kov. I agree with you sadly his style doesnt sit well with casuals, however boxing is about winning and he has many ways of doing so. The worst thing Ward can do is stay in that pocket for Kov, Kov can be deadly there. He will be in and out and controlling the range which might not make for an exciting fight but more a fascinating one watching how he controls the range (one that Ward wins IMO). If Ward stays in the pocket however we are in for a fantastic action packed fight in which Kov would no doubt win.

Froch, Abraham and Kessler were not credible?? not P4P #1s but are defo credible. Ward didnt have to move up he could have dominated quite easily at SMW.

He has faced a number of credible opponents .... Krusher is much more than just "credible" were talking about possibly (along with GGG) the most feared boxer on the planet.

How many aeons ago was that? I am talking in the present not 5 years ago. Since that cluster of respectable wins when Ward was focused, there has been nothing on his record to suggest he was comfortable with taking risks until now.

So he has faced credible opponents in the past and is now facing the most credible opponent he could have faced on this planet.......that will be all. Thank you Andre Ward for having the balls to take on Krusher when no one else would. Thanks Seph for coming round and not directly admitting parts of your posts were wrong and that he has faced credible opponents (when you said he hadnt )

Im finishing up here at work so take care y'all

It's not a slight on his father and as you say there are levels of junkie from one who can keep down a job to those on the street but at the end of the day gear is gear and no matter the upbringing or even the will of the addict the gear will come first everytime before everything inc ones own family, that he chose to do from the eyes of his son speaks of his conscience but in the end it wasn't enough to save him
